Professional staff; confusing layout; no porter
The Management Centre is a residential facility belonging to the University of Bangor where residential graduate courses and other management programs are run. When they have spare capacity they welcome other travelers. On the plus side, the staff were all friendly, helpful and professional, and the breakfast was delicious. There is a small Costa Coffee cafe in addition to the dining room. The bedrooms were a bit small, but comfortable. However, the layout is confusing, and it was hard to navigate at times. The place labeled 'reception' was not in use, and we had to climb the stairs (no elevator) to a different check-in desk. We had to go back down the stairs (where we had had to leave our luggage - no help with bags) - to our rooms. Our group was on different floors. There are some lifts but they don't reach all floors and there were small flights of steps in places. I would probably return if I was traveling light, but if I had heavy luggage or any difficulty with stairs, maybe not.

Impressed
Very impressed with our one night stay for Uni drop off. I shall be returning for a longer stay next time.Very clean and tidy, also very quiet, with a good breakfast. Good location too.

Welcoming reception, very helpful staff. The room and bathroom were of a good standard and cleanliness was excellent. The restaurant was very good and so was the breakfast. I would not hesitate to recommend the Management Centre.

Great location for the Uni but otherwise poor..
The location of the hotel is perfect if you want access to the main university campus BUT, and it is a big but.... Whilst the hotel is described as 4 * (Welsh?) it bears no resemblance to a 4* grading that you would recognise outside Wales. The room (as std room) was below a Premier inn by quite a margin. Room was pretty small. Shower was passable. Bed was VERY firm. Pillows and Duvet were pretty lacklustre. The hotel reception seems to be situated in a large conference room and is unlike any reception I have seen before (tho the staff were very friendly). The breakfast was passable tho the views from the breakfast room over the Menai Straits were pretty outstanding.. The general maintenance of the outside of the imposing Victorian? building was lacking with windows and render all looking pretty neglected giving a real sense of faded glory. Our stay was blighted on the Saturday night with people arriving back very noisily (and sound drunk as the proverbial) at 02:20 in the morning and then again an hour later followed by people presumably leaving noisily at intervals thereafter (Reception staff said they would look into it but what can they do after the event?) . I really couldn't recommend the place unless location is the be all and end all of your stay.
