Design disaster
Great staff and restaurant. But who is responsible when terrible room designs? The bathed are a disaster: sink like a trough splashes water all over. Water split at the sink makes bending down to wash your face a hazard. Shower stall dark as a cave. Toilet required both hands to press flush. In the room, chairs with seats so deep and backs so low that you wind up in the diagonal. Curtains it takes an Olympian to close. The second of our rooms had a long table over the end of the bed that extended beyond the bed about 6 inches on each side, restricting access on one side and guaranteeing collision. (I moved it). The bed was comfortable! What a shame that this once lovely building has been spoiled.

limited parking
The staff is very professional and courteous. Free valet parking means that if you don't get one of the 3 spots available you're out of luck. Lucky for us the hotel wasn't very busy and they were able to accommodate us (Hotels website should not allow them to advertise as such) but I can imagine that during high season this is a problem. This is an old hotel that has been completely rehabbed by someone who doesn't stay at hotels. Since the ceilings are close to 20 feet high and the curtains are mounted at the top of the walls, installation of curtain pulled rods would make it possible to close the curtains without going through gymnastics. This is a busy part of town and rooms can get a little noisy. The bathrooms are poorly designed, narrow mirror, difficult to turn on the shower. Closet space is very limited despite the fact that the room was generous in size.
