Poor customer service
We stayed at the White House Inn in Wilmington, Vt. on Sunday 10/8. On Mon. 10/9, in the early afternoon, we were elsewhere in Vt. and I discovered I left my North Face coat at the Inn. I made a total of 7 calls on Mon. and Tue. before the incident was finally resolved. (4 to the no. on our email confirmation, 1 to no. in the info. packet, and 2 to 24 hour security number). I was told repeatedly by the young woman at the Inn that they had to check with Housekeeping and the off-site "lost and found" to see if the coat was there and then someone would call me back but again no one called. She said repeatedly that she had emailed housekeeping. On Tue., I told her we were leaving Vt. but we were going to drive back to the Inn and I wanted my coat ready for me to pick up. When we got there she said the coat wasn't there and she asked for my name and address I suppose implying they would ship it to me. I politely declined. I asked what their policy is about items left behind in the rooms. She said the housekeepers were supposed to turn in the items to the front desk and then the guest(s) would be notified. She said she was not told anything was left and as I have said no one ever contacted me. I asked her to call the owner/manager of the Inn so I could talk to them. The Director (I assume) called back a few minutes later and said she called all the housekeepers and one of them was going to bring my coat back to the Inn. There was no further explanation and no apology.

Lovely stay in Wilmington, VT
A lovely, classic hotel in a beautiful manor. The rooms are very well furnished, the bathrooms are modern and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Moreover, the food is truly outstanding!

Property is fabulous! Room/linens so fine. Loved the bar; cozy, comfy, conducive to visiting and relaxing. Dinner was amazing! Chef (s) did an exceptional job with a variety of tastes and flavors.

Last minute ski trip
Great last minute trip to ski after an April snow storm. Bar area in the Whitehouse Inn is lovely and a great place to watch an NCAA tournament basketball game.

Charming but would not stay again.
Location was beautiful, can't complain. The hotel itself was very charming. The staff was very pleasant. However, understaffed, the room above us had hardwood, not carpeting and I could hear every step - extremely annoying but since we were staying for 1 night and already unpacked, I put my earplugs on to sleep, othewise would have requested to change my room. Lit a log in the fireplace and the room immediately got smokey, even though we were told the flue was ready to use. Called for maintenance and one hour later, they showed up. In the meantime, my husband put out the fire with bottles of water. Had dinner at their restaurant - awful menu - I hardly liked anything on the menu, very eclectic and not cohesive, strange is a better word. We did not have breakfast there the next day. No one at the front desk when checking out, had to just leave my key on the desk.
