Great location, be prepared to spend lots of $$$
A little dated but overall good. Nice to have WIFI included. The pool is nice, but a couple of outdoor jaccuzzis would be a good addition to a hotel of this size and standard. Prices are on the high side but you are on an Island.

The Dahrma Initiative Ausie Style
My husband and I visited Hamilton Island during a recent trip to Australia. The best way we found to describe it is that the island (the entire island is owned by one man) is like the Dharma Initiative on the series Lost. Its very organized and convenient, but the lack of competition (since everything is owned by the same person) has obviously disincentivized competition that would lead to better quality food, lower prices and better upkeep in some areas such as pools and beach furniture. The location is very convenient for day trips to the GBR, Whitehaven Beach and other natural wonders (all through tour companies charging around $150-$300 pp/day). I would recommend it to a friend, but would set expectations by explaining the above. That said, we stayed in the simple, quaint and clean Bungalows, I'm sure that if you pay a premium to stay in the more luxurious accommodations, the experience would be somewhat different (though all restaurants would be the same). If you want to dive the GBR, or sit on Whitehaven beach and don't mind paying a premium for the convenient location while moderating expectations for food quality and certain luxuries, then this place is ideal.

Modern, comfortable, friendly staff, relaxing
As a family we really enjoyed our stay at Palm bungalows for 7 nights. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Included breakfasts at the Pool terrace were a real highlight and offered a good variety of food and staff was very friendly. Although Palm Bungalows may seem like a separate hotel all together, they seem to be managed by the staff at the Reef View Hotel and share the same facilities including restaurants, bars, pools, gym etc. Hotel management accommodated us for an extra 2 nights at a discounted rate when our flights were cancelled which was a nice gesture. Couple of suggestions for the hotel would be to ensure there's adequate seating and air conditioning in the arrivals / departures lounge. On a 35 degree day with an infant, we couldn't find a cool enough place to hang out after we checked out at 10am and our flight wasn't leaving until 2:30pm. Overall food quality was a bit average and prices are high. It's understandable that you're on an island hence the high prices however good quality dishes can easily make up for this. I would say it's time for F&B managers to review the menus and make some changes (hint. the wagyu beef burger at Pool Terrace feels like a supermarket burger) Highly recommended for couples and families..

Your own little bungalow- complete with cockatoos
Beautiful and quant bungalow as part of a resort. Everyone drives around golf carts on this island (for a $70 daily rental, yikes). Room has a studio apartment feel with a couch, large bed, kitchenette, and bathroom. This was the first place on our trip that didn't feel like a hotel. One of our two nights a storm rolled through and rocked the place! heavy rains coupled with the loudest thunder I ever felt, shook the cabins. The next day was sunny and nice, so we went down to the marina! Overall we'd probably stay somewhere else since the resort feel was too crowded and loaded with kids. Our bungalow was great, but we can't stay in it the whole time! We left wanting more seclusion.
