Underwhelming Hotel Experience
Was farther than I would have liked from Ueno Station but not unreasonable. Bathtub size was a bit small, and there was a ring of black around the back of the sink. The bed was very uncomfortable, maybe because I have back pain, but I found it very difficult to sleep well. I also noticed stains on the bedding and carpet. I was disappointed that there was no breakfast included. Probably for price it would have been better to stay somewhere else with a better bed and breakfast service and a closer location to a JR Station.

We got lost using google map searching for this hotel. It locates behind tall buildings and in a corner. the bathroom was so small would probably make a hobbit feels at home.

Decent Stay and Location for the Price
I stayed at the Oak Hotel for two nights. The rooms are small (I'm 5' 11") but if you're just looking for a place to sleep and shower it is good. Front desk staff was very nice. Only thing is my room had a lot of mildew and mold which I am allergic to. Location is a bit hard to find initially but it is close to some convenience stores and the JR station.

Friendy place
I came into Ueno to get ready to show a group of friends Tokyo. We will be stay in another Ueno hotel (because the Oak was full) The Oak is a friendly place that has everything you need in a business man hotel. The rooms are small but clean and tidy. The guests come down to cook, chat, do laundry in the reception area. The staff are very helpful in finding fun things to do. Good location , close to a Ginza line subway stop and the JR train.

it was a cozy little place. not too far from a subway station. the neighborhood was nice and quiet, not so crowded. the staffs were nice also. if you just need a place to sleep and are planning to spend most of a day outside, it's a nice and affordable place to come back at night and just sleep.
