Great Location, Friendly Staff.
Great Location - walking distance to the subway. Very friendly and helpful staff. Simple breakfast was provided (tea/coffee, toast) with bacon and eggs / omelettes available to purchase (around CAD10) Bar downstairs was very loud. Discounted entry available to guests. Room was very cold - the additional comforter and heater did not suffice. WiFi was usable, but a bit slow. Floor was uneven and rooms were not serviced unless requested by placing a sign on the door.

it's Good
I personally don't care about floor space or personal bathrooms in a hotel room, so I was more than happy to trade those for a significantly lower price. The soundproofing was strong enough that in my room (215), I never heard any music from downstairs. I generally dislike paying as much I do for amenities I don't need, so The Rex suited me just fine. The WiFi being open and terrible was a pain, but it got me out of my hotel room and into town faster I guess.

Bargain Stay in Prime Location
I stayed in a room with private bath for one night. Room is basic but clean and the location could not be better. Staff are friendly.

Excellent hotel and restaurant with history
I enjoyed my stay at the Rex Hotel. I stayed in April 2019 for four nights. I was in a room with a shared bathroom. I didn't have any problem with it. The room was clean. It was on the first floor, and I could listen to live music every night from my room, which I liked. I love their restaurant. It is easy to access from the hotel (just next door and they are connected) and you can just go, get a drink sitting or standing, and listen to live music. Both the hotel and restaurant have a history, and I talked to one of the staff and was told that it started in sometime in 1800. I love the atmosphere, and what is great about the restaurant is that people there are a mix of young and old people, which made me feel very comfortable. The hotel is on Queens street, very vibrant street, and close to the convention center. It is also close to University of Toronto and China town so you see many young college students walking around. Overall, I love the hotel and would come back if I would have a chance to visit Toronto again.

Loved the Rex Hotel
I found the room to be spare, but clean and perfectly suited for me, and had everything I needed, including free WiFi. My room was small, but I'm slender and not very tall so I had plenty of room. I did get a room with a private bathroom. My room was over the jazz club stage. I enjoyed the music for the most part; the only time I didn't was when I had a headache. The staff were extremely friendly, responsive and helpful. The food in the club was quite good. I liked the location very much. It was in easy walking distance of theaters, museums, and restaurants. The harbour front was a little further walk, but not bad, and access to the aquarium and arenas was easy. The area was very safe - I went walking in the evening several times, and felt perfectly safe. The shops in the immediate area were funky, and I enjoyed going in them. If ever I return to Toronto, I will definitely look into staying at the Rex again.
