Can't wait to stay her again.

The rooms and hotel grounds are exactly like the pictures. It was a great stay and everyone was ever so helpful and accommodating. The Dukes restaurant and bar was yummy and very nice. Reservations are recommended. We are already planning on going back in about 6 months. The property is beautiful and well taken care of. Shopping and so many food options nearby. Great place for couples and families and there was a combination of all and all ages.

We had a great stay at Honua Kai - our second visit. Our 1 bedroom ocean view room was very nice, although it did have a faint smell of mildew. The pools were great as were the grounds. The water slide was a big hit and we enjoyed a meal at Duke's as well as the pool side service. A good place to stay with family.

    Disappointing

We were disappointed when we first arrived. The room was smaller than I expected and pretty dirty. I also was unhappy that the balcony to our unit was SHARED across the whole floor. Meaning, our sliding glass doors in the living room (where our daughters would be sleeping) would be able to be accessed by anyone walking by. I called the front desk to share my concern and they offered to upgrade me, if I paid the upgraded price. I agreed to do that and we felt safer in a slightly larger room with a private balcony.

Great family hotel, not peace and quiet.

Honua Kai is a fabulous place for families to stay in Maui. It is located in Kaanapali, close to shops and restaurants, walking distance to grocery. The rooms are fabulous, with amazing ocean or Mountain View’s and fully equipped kitchens. The only complaint is that kitchens have for example, our room slept 4, it had 4 plates, 4 cups, 4 forks. They had mostly the bare necessities but nothing more. Rooms have Bosch appliances, including washer, dryer, and dishwasher. Our only complaint was the communication from the resort on check in, towel information, etc. It was NOT a quiet resort, the acoustics and set up of the balconies (which are a big part of staying here) are situated in a way that you hear everything, and people are up super early and stay up late with doors wide open as they have sliders that open all the way.

Not as good as our previous stays

The resort is much more rundown than the last time I stayed. The resort was over 95% full so they kept running out of pool towels, but what was more ANNOYING was the pool chairs (OUTSIDE pool chairs) were only at 30% capacity so it was almost impossible to find a chair. This was their policy as the Westin next door had 100% pool chairs out. I really wouldn't recommend and we won't be going back.
