Lovely Old Hotel
It is a lovely old hotel if you like old historic properties, but they do come with old fixtures and fittings in keeping with the old. To be honest the first room I was given had no heating, radiator did not work, no bedside lamps and only one pillow! They did put me in a much better room, for which I was very happy. Now this was just before we were stopped by the Coivid-19 virus for travelling. I was attending a family funeral. The staff were lovely and the food very good.

Well....
Was A very comfortable Stay felt a little too intimate in dining was made to feel a little intimidated by other guests staff was lovely friendly . Didn’t know the history of risley hall but since staying I now understand the reputation it has for being haunted.

One night stay
Hotel tired needs refit . Very hard to find no out side sign , looks like the downstairs corridor as flooded. The best part of stay was breakfast, the eggs Benedict was fantastic. But would not stay again until update of hotel takes place

What No Staff!
Lovely room. Accepted the limitations of the plumbing in the bathroom as the price to pay for the surroundings. However, no restaurant available on the night I stayed and no breakfast available the next morning, no anyone to check out with at reception.

We won’t be coming back.
There are certain expectations you have of a room that’s referred to as a Suite. The only feature I’d deem suite like, was the surface area of the room and bathroom, this is most likely what’s making the room pass off as a suite. Firstly, our first impression of the room was the strong aroma , of what I can only describe as cheap bourbon whisky. I’ve never experienced that before in any hotel room, very peculiar. There were quite large stains on the carpet below the radiator pipes, I suspect these could be cleaned with a professional clean. The radiator in the bathroom was rusty and tatty looking, I suspect a fairly cheap fix for a hotel to replace with an equivalent. There was a standard kettle you’d expect to find in a budget hotel, with two biscuits and less than ample amount of quality, or any, tea/coffee/milk. This was stood on top of what we thought to be a built in fridge. But I think our expectations were too high in this case, as it was an empty cupboard with no fridge at all! There was a second toilet, however this was rendered redundant after discovering the lack of working light. Peculiar how the cleaner never noticed that. The External french doors overlooked a car park, with an enormous green skip in view when looking left. The tab ends outside also hadn’t been cleaned up. The corridor leading up to the room, was how I could only describe as the maintenance floor you accidentally come across when you access floor -1 in an elevator.
