Good enough for solo travellers
As a solo traveler, all I needed was a clean hotel room that was also close to the city so I could walk and come back late night if needed. In that aspect, a perfect 10. The bathroom did smell funny just a bit like the other reviews state, but you couldn't smell it unless you were inside it. Bed is comfortable, warm and bug-free. Stairs are always going to be ladder-like if you're looking to stay in central Amsterdam. That's a part of the city, and wouldn't be surprised if you see it in coffeeshops and other establishments. Good enough breakfast for €5. Solo travellers: I'd give this a solid yes.

Decent location.
I stayed in three hotels during my visit and this was my least favorite of the three. The room and interior very dated. There are doors everywhere (both end of hallways to room, etc). The sink is too tiny to wash your face in, you can barely wash your hand. The room is extremely tiny. Luckily I got it at a decent price. I did like the location of the hotel. While I didn't eat the breakfast it was nice to know they had a dining room.

Good location / Boa localização
It was a good time. The hotel is simple but works perfectly to spend the night and take some rest. The staff is great. I was in a single room, too tight and a little noisy by night. But is worth it because the location is great, very close to Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, etc.

I've stayed here twice, a year apart, very helpful staff on both occasions. I will likely book again in the future.

Great Hotel and Location, Noisy Customers
Really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Jupiter. The location turned out to be even better than I had thought. A big negative, though, was the noisy people at night! The door held out no noise what so ever and I was right by the staircase. People came in late at night and were very noisy -- almost every night! Also to note is the very steep staircase, if you have knee problems, you might want to request a room with elevator access (3 and 4th floors).
