Perfect Riad for Central Mararkech - Amazing Hotel
I cannot say enough good things about this Riad. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, and the owner Joel was around consistently. The lobby was beautiful, with many different sitting areas, all of which were comfortable and well maintained. The Mint Tea (best we had in 6 different cities in Morocco) service at and area walk through at check-in was exactly what we needed since we had never been to Marrakech. The custom Map with the Hotel clearly labeled was very helpful as well. We stayed in the Abdou Suite on the top floor with our own private roofdeck (up a very skinny spiral staircase) that was amazing. The included breakfast "buffet" was amazing as well. High quality food and fresh produce was delicious. The coffee was amazing as well and they left a full carafe on your table which was rare throughout our travels. The front desk was able to easily arrange taxi's for us on multiple occasions and the free train station taxi was a nice touch as well. The staff also called to arrange a dinner reservation and gave us good tips on where to go and when. The Riad is located down a side street and alley way with a small door that is a step down from the street. There was decent signage from a few streets away, which helped as well. We also took a quick of tour of the newly opened Princess Karmela, directly across from the Riad Karmela and that looks beautiful as well. If we ever come back to Marrakech, we will absolutely stay here again.

The courtyard area is awesome. So peaceful.
I really didn't know what to expect t from a Riad. I was so pleasantly surprised at this little hidden gem. Right in the heart of the market.

Paradise in midst of mass chaos
First and most important; make sure you set up a transfer with the riad -- run by a Frenchman who speaks perfect English -- from the airport or train station. You will NEVER find this place by yourself and you may find the experience a bit more harrowing than you'd like. The riad truly is an oasis in the midst of mass chaos. The place is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. You never hear much more than the birds chirping. Everything changes once you step outside. IF you want a real Marraskesh experience but a place to escape to for some R & R, this is your place. The staff is competent and efficient, but not warm and fuzzy.

Paradise found
Luckily we took previous travellers advice about booking an airport transfer - good move. The chances of finding the riad is remote with lots luck needed. Once at Karmela we were checked in by Joel, with mint tea and a full explanation of location and other information, we were then informed that we were being accommodated in the Karmela Princess riad - WOW. This was situated next door just across a narrow covered alley. The Karmela Princess was a beautiful oasis of peace and a brilliant place to escape the sensory overload of the Souks outside. Close enough to get in the thick of the city 10 mins walk away but far enough away to be a secluded spot for recuperation. The roof terrace was a fantastic respite during the day. The Karmela Princess's rooms were all individually designed and decorated to a very high standard. The bathrooms continued the individual theme, his and hers basins, hot water within seconds of turning the tap. All the staff in the riads were friendly and happy to assist in any way. Breakfast was taken in the Karmela, a great continental selection of pastries, croissants, meats and cheese, fruits, cereals eggs and pancakes were cooked to order. This Riad is just perfect for a stay in Marrakesh, Thank You Joel and Bouchra

Very welcoming.
This was a great find. The staff are extremely welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. Having never been to an Arabic country, we were very grateful to the staff for their tips and local knowledge. The Riad was very peaceful and safe. Would recommend eating in the evening at the Riad, wonderful food! Our room was beautiful, with many Morroccan artefacts, and windows facing out to the inner courtyard, complete with orange trees and a water fountain. I highly recommend this Riad as a great place to stay in the old Medina.
