Disappointing and over priced
More style over substance. For a supposed 5*, I expected a little more on the customer service front. There was zero flexibility with regard to checking in early or checking out late. For the price paid, I didn’t expect to be told that there would be a “penalty” if we didn’t check out bang on 1200. Also, the in room tea and coffee is charged at £2.50 per cup if you would like it topped up. Even the Premier Inn will give you a few more tea bags if you ask! The room was filled with items for sale, most of it unnecessary and quite tacky and to the point where there were no surfaces left free to put any personal items or toiletries. The corridor was also over filled with unnecessary furniture and stray vacuum cleaners turning it into a bit of an obstacle course at check out. We stayed one night and then some friends joined us in the restaurant for Afternoon Tea. This was great value for money and the food was excellent. However, the service was again lacking. Not a place I’d rush back to considering the price I paid. They need to focus on providing a comparable service to the price they’re charging rather than attaching a price to everything. Less is more and customers will place a value on the small touches.

Good Location but service at night is not good
Our check in was fast and smooth. Our room was small but we knew they coming into it. We got in late so decided to go explore the city. When we got back to the hotel the front doors were locked. I appreciated the security but the man working behind the front desk just stared at us when we walked up with no expression or acknowledgement. He didn't even stand up. It was as if he was just waiting for us to go away. I pulled out my room keycard and showed it to him through the glass. He then slowly got up and walked towards the glass and asked if we are staying here? I told him yes and again showed him the key card. It then took him about 30 more seconds to open the door. It made us feel like convicts trying to break in to a hotel that we paid for. He didn't apologize but rather pushed the elevator button and sat back down. Instead he made us feel so bad about inconveniencing him, I apologized for bothering him and he just replied "That's okay." I couldn't believe how rude and annoyed he was that we were trying to go to our room. The hotel is very old and our room was on the first floor. Throughout the night all we heard were people going up and down the stairs. I am not a light sleeper and travel a lot but every time someone would use the stairs, we would hear it in our room along with the full conversation. The room was clean and we enjoyed the unique feel. Had it not been for the extremely rude front desk evening attendant I would have scored much higher.

Great location but run down and noisy
The room was adequate and as advertised. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the rooftop bar and hot tub. This area was quite run down and disappointing. I would not have put a toe in the hot tub as it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. We several plumbing issues in our room including a tub and sink that would not drain, the shower knob came off in my hand and a toilet that wouldn't stop running. We told the front desk the next morning but nothing was fixed when we returned. To be honest, the gentleman we told at the front desk seemed completely uninterested. The next morning we told a different person and the tub and toilet were fixed when we got back. We were on the 4th floor directly under the rooftop bar which is open all night. The music was very loud one evening and there were several times we were awakened by drunk people falling down the stairs outside our room.

i liked the location of course. it was right in the middle of everything. i liked the professional staff that really cared about their guests. it was a noisy neighborhood, but i never head a sound from hallway or doors closing. and the outside noise was easily handled by closing the double windows. but then it got a bit warm in the room. i loved my room, on the small side, but London? it was huge! especially for this neighborhood, which was a great one, less than 2 miles walk to almost all the best London has to offer. nice amenities, comfortable bed, although they pushed two beds and locked them together, but you can still tell, hookah smokers in the restaurant downstairs on the sidewalk meant smelling it all night long, the roof bar/hangout spot was very cool

Karma Sanctuary, Soho
I booked through hotels.com which was hassle-free. The hotel was easy to find and very close to Piccadilly Circus and the theatres. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants around this area as well. Overall, the hotel was great and ha a lot of character. Although the room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay, I was a little disappointed because the booking through hotels.com didn't make it clear what type of room I had booked, which turned-out to be the lowest tier. Had I known this, I may have wanted to spend a little more and upgrade to a more superior room, but I didn't seem to have that options.
