Our favorite place to stay in Ames! The location can’t be beat. But that wouldn’t mean much if it weren’t also clean, with good food and amenities, nice employees, and chill atmosphere. I’ve neglected to give such a great review before because it can be full on busy weekends and we’ve had to go to our 2nd fave place (Gateway), but our last ISU kid is about to graduate, so we can share the secret now. Plan ahead and return to your favorite rooms again and again.

Friendly and efficient staff, beautiful house and great decoration, especially in the common room. The Iowa House is a little worn in some places and needs new carpet in the stair well. The breakfast was tasty and filling, (a croissant sandwich with fruit and tater tots), but there didn't seem to be a choice. The room on the 3rd floor was quiet for an afternoon nap, but the house filled with noise in the middle of the night as people went up and down the stairs, returning from the night out. We plan to return again.
