Reeks of Urine not Kyoto worthy
The rooms are small and old. The first room cleanliness was ok; it was old run down. The 2nd room was horrible even for American standard, it was dirty and stunk of urine. When we got into the 2nd room it reeks of urine and there was no bath towels. The room was even more dirtier then the first. And did I mention it reeks of urine? For Japanese standard this place is poor. we ended up staying because we came there late and was exhausted from the day trip. I would not recommend this place. I would conclude that a hostel or love hotel would be better then this. Sunroute, you really need to raise your standard especially in Kyoto.

Good Hotel, OK location
The hotel is a standard business hotel, small room (double) and very small bathroom. It is about a 20 min walk to Nishiki Market and 35 min up hill walk to THE temple. if you get the river view rooms, it is nice. Nothing around it though in terms of shops and nice restaurants. The price is reasonable for the time of the year but I will pick something closer to downtown next time. It will be worth the money to pay a little extra for the resorts.

Probably my last stay here..
Requested a non-smoking room, they put me in a very stinky smoking room. Too tired after a long journey to go down 5 floors so I decided to deal with it. This room was way too HOT, there was no way to stop hot air from coming into the room. Even if you set the temp to the lowest setting, hot air blowing into the room. I had to open the windows to get cool air and get rid of the cigarette smell. Extremely tiny "pillow" (if you could call it that). The smallest pillow I ever encountered in any hotel, anywhere. The only thing this place has going for it is the neighborhood.

The baths were a disappointment - smaller than expected - but the comfort of the bed more than made up for it.
