Good hotel. There is a smell in the rooms and generally at the hotel. Probably sewerage problem. Very few parking places for a 5 star hotel. The verandas need a shading system. You can't sit there except from the evening. The access road to the hotel is difficult and sometimes dangerous. Especially in the night

Needs work
There are many positives about the hotel. It is in a quiet secluded part of the island and it has stunning views. Nearly every room has 180 degree views of the sea and a decent sized balcony to enjoy it from. The beach itself is also beautiful. It’s not crowded and the sand quality for our kids and water quality were very good. We did have a few issues with the hotel though: 1. We had 2 kids that were to sleep in a fold out sofa. We had no problem with this conceptually but found that when the bed was made up it was extremely uncomfortable with a massive bump in the middle of the mattress. When we complained, the hotel management provided a mattress topper to make it slightly better but it did not work. 2. The wifi didn’t work in our room at all. They sent service people to look at it but they did nothing and after a couple of complaints nothing happened. 3. The gym is poorly maintained. A number of exercise machines didn’t work. When I asked them to fix one of them (which I believe only needed a few standard batteries to be replaced) they didn’t. I asked twice and nothing happened in a week. 4. Freddie from the “guest interaction team” yelled at our 4 year old and we told him to stop that. We complained to management who seemed well schooled in the art of listeneing to our grievances and doing absolutely nothing about them. Overall, probably OK if you have only 2 people to a room, you don’t need wifi and don’t want the gym. I don’t think it’s 5 star.

The hotel was in a nice quite location the good Nice beach good variety of food at meals nice view from the room all inclusive plan was good always got a sun bed waiters for drinks very good food quality very good Would not call this 5 star due to a few other things firstly I found the toilet and bath dirty not good for a 5 star the staff in the restaurant did not smile much found the girls in the spa not very friendly you need to pay extra for bottle water and branded drinks even if you are all inclusive Definitely not five star and definitely not 5 star service would say 3.5 or 4 star even though I paid a lot of money would stay somewhere else next time

Lovely location and good value
The hotel is in a great location, the beach is clean and shallow and easily accessible from the hotel. The swimming pool is great for families with young children and there are always plenty of sunbeds. The food is good, there are a couple of additional restaurants to choose from (and pay extra for) if you don't want to dine in the main restaurant for half board or all-inclusive guests. There are a few things that are unnecessarily complicated (towels, restaurant opening times, which restaurants and drinks are available to half board guests, changing an evening meal to a lunch on half-board, have to renew login to WiFi each day). The staff are friendly although don't appear to be well-treated by their employer and often don't go the extra mile for guests as a result. The spa is run by a separate organisation and is quite pushy, we tried a pedicure but didn't go back for a full body massage - the treatment room was harshly lit, door left open and staff came in and out of the room during the treatment interrupting the therapist several times, no music and no real discussion prior to the treatment about any preferences or needs. The Monastery isn't the advertised 5-star and so long as you're not expecting that, it's a great place to stay for a family holiday.
