Not impressed
Staff wasn’t terribly friendly and they charged us for something we can’t identify.

Wonderfully Quirky Solo Nest for a Weekend in NYC
Great place to stay if you're on a solo trip and appreciate a funky 'old hotel' vibe, The Jane housed the survivors of the 'Titanic' disaster in 1911.. The lobby has a comfortable old elegance, decorated with lots of vintage brass, dark woodwork and taxidermy. The staff is courteous and attentive, and it features both a dark bar/lounge in the same tone as the lobby, and a bright, trendy restaurant, the 'Old Rose'. The wood-paneled room is only 50 square feet (!), just big enough for a single bed and walking space to get in and out. A wall-sized mirror adds a feeling of space, and there are ample hooks, under-bed drawers, and a marble counter ledge for all your goods. The room electrics work when activated by inserting a brass dowel into a round plug attached to the room key, an odd feature consistent with the overall theme of the hotel. It's situated in a quiet Chelsea neighborhood, just across the street from the Hudson River and the beautiful walking greenway/ cycling path that hugs the west edge of Manhattan. It's walking distance to any number of cool neighborhoods and they have a fleet of loaner bikes if you didn't bring your own like I did. This place was perfect for my stay and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The one to stay at
The Jane is my first choice every time. Best price and a grand old building. Neighbourhood is good as well.

Location is great. The rooms are small, but functional. If you have large feet, bring flip flops for the bathroom. The 14A bus’ last stop ok’ing west is @ Jane St, and the hotel is 3 blocks further down.
