I’ve stayed in better hostels. You know you’re up for disappointment when straight after check in, they lead you to the separate building round the back that looks like a prison block, despite having opted for a superior room over a standard, without going all out for a cottage over the ‘laguna’. The first room smelt badly of damp and was very musty, and we’d also been given twin beds. Upon polite complaint, we were given a room two floors up, that thankfully had one bed and no musty smell, but the bathroom was covered in black mould. There were also dead ants all around the edge of the patio doors, under the curtain where the floors hadn’t been cleaned properly. We notified reception. In their defence they sent someone up about 10.30pm offering to clean the bathroom, but as I was in my towel and ready for bed we asked for it be done the next day. As the most expensive hotel of our entire stay in Thailand, we were expecting good things, yet it turned out to be the worst. The young staff tried their best to rectify our situation, but the management clearly aren’t keeping a handle on the standards, whilst being happy enough to take our money. It was incredibly disappointing. I don’t expect to turn up to my expensive hotel at 10pm needing to take a shower, but have to ask for my room to be cleaned first! On our day of check out we watched a girl ‘clean’ the foyer floor with a mop - the entire foyer without once rinsing her mop, dragging a clod of hair and dirt along. Ugh!

Exceptional 10.0
We had a great time at Peace Laguna. We were two couples traveling together and enjoyed spending the New Year's eve at the hotel in an idyllic atmosphere. They threw the guests a wonderful party with a great buffet - something for everyone. The location of the hotel is excellent - close to the beach and the main street. Due to construction work close to the hotel, the shortcut to the beach was temporarily closed, but we were fine with that. When you don't want to go to the beach or the fantastic islands close to Ao Nang, the hotel's three pools are excellent. However, in peak seasons, as late December, the number of available sunbeds around the pools can feel like a scarce resource. Reserving one by placing a towel on a sunbed before breakfast was certainly necessary for the pool closest to the main building, but not necessary for the pool area with the designated children's pool. Here, we managed to get sunbeds without reserving them. The room was clean and spacious with all the amentities you'll need, such as a beach bag, outdoor towels, umbrellas, bathrobes, slippers, etc. You might find some signs of wear and tear, but nothing you would not find in a hotel that is not totally new. The frond desk staff are friendly and helpful. Other staff we were in contact with were also very service-minded. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Worst stuff hospitality ever!
the WORST manager I’ve ever seen! We paid for the cottage ( extra $40-50 per night) and we got a standard room. She told us that the pictures on the website were wrong, they will work on it and fix the website, but too late to move us to another room. Ridiculous! So instead of a view of lagoon we had wall view with construction behind it, for the same money, no refund, no apologies, not trying to fix the problem, nothing! Anytime she saw that we were approaching the reception she would leave, and the employees will tell us that she is at a meeting. Also, we called for an iron and they told us they will bring it in 10mins, so after 35mins I went on the reception to ask what happened and the guy told me the housekeepers are very busy. Also, called for help with the suitcases they never came, busy again... The resort itself it’s beautiful, but with this kind of horrible management will go down!

Excellent hotel in a fantastic location.
First impression of the hotel and bungalow room was excellent. The staff were pleasant and friendly but spoke very limited English which wasn't a problem given I don't speak Thai. The location of the hotel is fantastic as there is a huge selection of bars/restaurants and shops right on the door step of the hotel. Although there was a good selection for the breakfast buffet, it was disappointing due to the food being lukewarm. My only real issue with the hotel was the gym equipment. Due to my job I wanted a hotel with a gym however the equipment was inadequate due to the exercise bikes and running machines not working. I addressed my issue to the manager and the following day one running machine was repaired. Great value for money and would recommend this hotel.

Tranquil resort with 4 pools, great family vacatio
Love the overall tranquil atmosphere of the resort with a lagoon in the center of the cottages. There are 4 pools to swim in, and the resort arranged for our room to be right in front of the kids’ pool so that we can watch our kids swim right from our balcony! So thoughtful! The front desk service staff and the restaurant staff are very attentive and helpful. But the housekeeping staff forgot our request to change sheets twice (the kids got sand onto the bed on day) and when we requested it on the 3rd try, the housekeeper showed up huffing and puffing, mad that she had to change the sheets... In general most facilities work, and the cottages feel warm and welcoming. But resort is a bit dated and needs some upgrading. It used to have a back door leading to the beach but now that a new hotel is under construction at the back of the resort, the short cut is blocked off. It is still close to the beach and takes less than 10mins to wak to the beach, but the closure of the shortcut is quite disappointing. :(
