Hotel Alfonso VIII, Cuenca
Nice place to stay
We stayed in an apartment room. Very comfortable and roomy. I would stay here again. There was a taxi area right outside the hotel. There were not always taxi's there however. When you arrive arrange for a taxi ahead of time to take you back to the train.

2 nights at Cuenca
Our room overlooked a park, and was quiet and comfortable. We ate at the 7th floor restaurant both nights, lovely views, and very reasonable 'menu del dia' even at night. The hotel had cafes nearby ,where we had breakfast. It was a fair distance from the cathedral,Plaza Major, etc. but driving and parking there was no problem.

Hotel Alfonso VIII
The hotel was well located for access to the town and within walking distance of the old town and Plaza Mayor. The receptionist was extremely helpful on check in. The room had a bar fridge which is always a bonus in hot climates and the room was comfortable although had no views (a brick wall!) which made it appear dark. Unfortunately we were there on a Sunday (and a festival day) and no restaurants in town, or the hotel restaurant opened until 10pm.

Cheap hotel. Great for overnight stay in Cuenca. Comfortable bed and tidy room but really needs brought into the 21st century. Good internet.
