Saratoga Hotel could be more welcoming! Jaded?
Keeping in mind the conditions in Cuba, this is a great 3.5 to 4 star hotel at 5 star prices. The rooftop has fabulous views and a pool, but the gin and tonics were anemic. The concierge service is good, and both of them smile and are pleasant. Unfortunately the 2019 Art Bienniale itself was very disorganized, and no real information was available though one concierge had an art curator contact, but no information was forthcoming. We dug around ourselves and provided them with a 3rd party website with up to date information! The female staff at reception and at breakfast are notably abrupt, sullen, and unfriendly. Does it hurt to crack a smile? The location is at the edge of all the central tourist attraction, so next time we might find a hotel closer, in Old Havana, as walking 20 mins in 90 degrees wipes you out! We stayed twice. The first one night stay the wifi was great on the top floor. Next 5 night stay on 4th floor had intermittent wifi.
