Acorn Hotel, Glasgow
Lovely little place
This is our second visit to the Acorn and we will definitely be back next time. The location is perfect, 15 minutes walk at a slow pace from the centre and the same again to the Hydro so although it's relatively central it's not too busy or noisy. The staff and service were excellent, friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The rooms we stayed in were immaculate and spacious with plenty of room to put clothing away and a safe too which is always handy. Would definitely recommend for a cheap, quiet and well located break :)

Good service but lots of road noise.
Good service. However too much noise from road, could benefit from double glazing on ground floor. Also double bed was too small for 2 people and mattress springs were popping through!

Good value hotel, nice rooms, well located
Hotel is in quiet area of West End but very close to Sauchiehall Street for buses and a direct route into the centre. Kelvingrove museum and park very close. 10 mins away in Argylle Street there are a number of funky restaurants (Kelvingrove Cafe which is actually a bar was good). Walkable at about 20 mins into centre or a bus to the bus station about 100 yards (get an all day ticket at £4.30). Nice room was modern and airy with decent bathroom. Hotel has 18 rooms and is surprisingly quiet at night. Slept well on the beds. Young manager multi-tasks (has to as he is the only person there!) and is clearly keen on making everyone's stay go well. Cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Good wifi. If I had to be constructively picky there are a couple of bits where they could take suggestions - the cooked breakfast is made in a cramped space next to reception and the smell tends to linger throughout the main stairwell so better fan might help, the rooms should have coat-hooks given that it rains a lot in Scotland, and the very modern rainfall shower, whilst excellent, had a really slippery floor on which considerable care had to be taken. But that said, we thought it was a very good choice of hotel.
