helpful hosts
i booked the hotel transfer from the airport and we were met at in the main square by the charming gentleman who runs the hotel, when you first walk there, ( it is through the souk) you are afraid you will be lost , but actually it is just around two corners, on arrival over a glass of mint tea you get a map, and a lots of helpful tips for enjoying your time in marrakech, its a romantic place to stay, lovely old riad, also the breakfast is very nice, i went in the winter when it was cold and rainy but my room and bed were cosy and warm. i thought it was excellent value and much better than staying in a modern hotel in the new town

Riad in the most superbly authentic location.
This Riad can only be found with the guide provided by the hotel. Think Arabian nights (not Knights) in a labrynth next to the most must do souk and square on the planet. Great staff. GREAT WELCOME. Superb.

ok, but nothing great...
we stayed one night - the key factor with booking a riad is that it's mostly about the people thta run it - at Mamoune, the guy there dissapoints... for some reason, he would only recommend one restaurant, which was very expensive and he must have reminded us at least 3 times that "check out is noon"... it felt rushed and unless your room is on the top floor, you will be right outside where they serve a bland breakfast of only bread...w/ that said, the location is great, and the guy will meet you in the square and bring you to the room - they also let us use their printer to print off boarding passes for our flights...in summary, it's fine for a night or two, but there are much better options in the same area...
