Truly exceeded our expectations
Beautiful hotel with boutique features. Comfortable bedroom & roomy bath. Super amenity is the cellphone that is available for the duration of the guest's stay. This phone (Handi Phone) provided free voice coverage, as well as data, throughout Europe & even U.S.A. The hotel also offered use of a computer in a snack room. Snacks were offered at no fee for extensive hours every day. The hotel services exceeded our expectations.

The High Praise Is Well Deserved
When we travel in Europe, we seek out boutique hotels with excellent accommodations, exceptional service, thoughtful amenities, a good location, and an authentic reflection of the locale. Based on these standards, we rated Madrid’s Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel meets at 5.0. The hotel is located on a quiet section of the Calle del Prado where it is short and easy walk to many of central Madrid’s major attraction, including fine art at the Prado and Sofia de la Reine, street life at the Plaza Major and Puerto del Sol, shopping on Gran Via and in Salamanca, and green space at the Retiro and Royal Botanical Garden. Nearby is the Atocha railroad terminal, departure point for high speed Renfe service to all major cities in Spain. Within a 2 or 3 block radius are literally dozens of wonderful restaurants. We particularly liked the Lamucca de Prado, the Bombardino Café Tapas, and the Mercado San Miguel, a lively marketplace where multiple vendors serve a superb selection of regional meats, cheeses, olives, and wines. The hotel provides a varied breakfast buffet for €20 per person and a free buffet serving sandwiches and snacks between noon and midnight. The rooms are beautifully decorated as is the entire property. We chose an upgrade to a larger premium room which, at an additional €40 per night, was well worth the cost. The hotel staff is smart, knowledgeable, and exceptionally helpful – special thanks to Alex.

A Nice Stay at Catalonia Las Cortes
We had a good stay in Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel. The room was reasonably spacious, clean, and comfortable. It has a nice anteroom, which was great for luggage and to muffle any noise from the hallway. The staff was helpful and efficient. A very nice feature was the complementary beverages and snacks in the bar area from 1:00 p.m. onward. The breakfast, while expensive, was very good. The hotel is on a quiet street but within walking distance of many sites, including the Prado, and excellent restaurants. Not far from the train station. You would not go wrong staying here.

Catalonia in Madrid
One of many hotels in this chain, and as good as the others. Decor is very high end, room is large and comes with a bathtub and separate shower, bed very comfortable, windows open, have a nice snack bar with sandwiches, smoothies, pastries etc. for free in the evening (if you are still on US time, you can sub this for a heavy and unwelcome Spanish late dinner). The breakfast was expensive compared to neighboring hotels. Desk did not want to make reservations for us, but you can use the house computer for free.
