Randown Dump !
We stayed in the hotel for one night during our visit to Porto and let me tell you I don't think it's humanly possible to do any worth than that. My family travels quite a bit and by any means we are not a picky guest and stayed in many different types and star rating accommodations in the past, but this is by far the worst we ever had experienced. Right after we entered the room we have received "warm welcome" by rusty water running down in the bathroom from the the moldy ceiling, we have complained and the stuff has moved us imitatively to the different room across the hall. The room we ware moved to had no heat apart from the small electric heater in the corner of the room, and we been soaking wet from the rainy day, and it's end of December !!!!!! We end up sleeping dressed up, Thanks God we had a dry set of closing. Staff brought us an extra set of blankets. Booked and and the booking confirmation said in "black and white" Free breakfast, however upon check in we been told that the breakfast is not included and it's 7EU/pp. We end up to be "compensated for the inconveniences" with Free breakfast, but still !! What ever could be broken and destroyed in the room was broken and destroyed. It's devastating how management could let the hotel to such terrible shape ! I do understand it's an old hotel, but by any stretch of imagination this is NOT an excuse to rent rooms to guest in such horrible shape. The bottom line stay as far as you can from this dump !!!!

Pleasant old timer in center city.
This old hotel (supposedly the oldest in Porto) is centrally located, and has a q uaint charm to it. Room was pleasnt eno[ugh, dbreakfast room charming in its decor, and there was a pleasant garden o[utside. Not for anoyne looking for any kind of modernity, but pleasnt enough for those who like an old time ambiance. Helpful and very polite staff. Sketchy wi-fi.

Location of hotel was excellent and atmosphere of the public areas very nice with period decorations. However, the night I checked in, alarms kept going off and my room was no better than a hostel. There was no lid on toilet tank requiring you to flush by putting hand into tank. The towels were frayed and worn and the television did not work. I informed the front desk staff of the toilet situation and was told it would be fixed the next day because the workmen were coming out to fix the alarm however nothing was done.

Charm of the old world
It was nice. The hotel has a lot of character and charm, great location. It I is rather tired, could use a fresh coat of paint. On the plus side, it is very clean, has a lovely dining room and a garden. Overall, we were happy with our stay.

Very noisy...our room on the first floor faced the street and we had street noise till about 4 am...we are not light sleepers, but got very little sleep that night. The hotel's appearance is a bit dingy and dated, but the staff was excellent, and the location was very good. All in all, we would choose another hotel.
