Listen to me - Do NOT stay here!!!
I wish there were a way to give 0 stars to this hotel. Please, don't be fooled by the location, this hotel is awful! First, we booked a room on, clearly indicating that we were traveling with our 16-year-old daughter. We paid for a room for 3 people, it was right on the reservation that we had printed out and with us. When we got there, they extorted another $250 out of us, because we had a third person. They said they wouldn't let us stay there unless we paid it. Since it was August in Venice, we had no other choice, and had to pay. Then, our room was horrible! The A/C was broken, and they refused to make repairs or change our room. We couldn't go in our room during the daytime, because it was 100 degrees in Venice while we were there. It was miserable even at night, and put a huge damper on our trip. Also, the water in the bathroom kept backing up. Every time we ran water chunks of black goo would come up out the drain and back up the sink and tub. We also asked them to fix this, and they refused. And, be warned - there is really no front desk. Someone is only there from about 11-4. After that, if you call (like to tell them that your A/C is broken) some cranky man starts screaming at you that the front desk is closed. There is absolutely no assistance, including with check-in, except for those hours. It was certainly the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. Please don't stay here and ruin your trip. Just please don't.

Not as expected
Firstly, dont get drawn in by the pictures on site with lavish rooms. Ours was plain white, holes in the sheets, bits in the bathroom held on my selotape etc. location cant be faulted however the hotel is actually managed outwith 11am-7pm by another hotel so you need to walk there to check in. The san marco is also split on two, i imagine the nice side where the pics were taken and our side. Our breakfast arrived with pots of jam that had already been opened and part used. Telly has no english channels. At least the safe worked.
