The Penz Hotel, Innsbruck
Terrible staff
Rude, arrogant, incompetent staff. Treated like trash by the 16 year old desk clerk when I checked in early (as if the train schedule was under my control) and didn't offer to hold my bags until a room was ready, I graciously pointed out my extensive bill at the restaurant/bar was assigned to another room to the manager I talked with extensively earlier, who didn't know whether or not a 60+ group dinner was scheduled there the next night (thank God it wasn't) or offer to comp even a single drink for my troubles. In short, was treated like hobo by the staff, who were more concerned about the local "high brow" crowd there for the club, despite being better dressed and mannered than either. The quintessential snobby high end place who's staff look down upon people as though you're a provincial hick even though they are more well traveled and have a significantly higher net worth than the rude guests and local club scene crowd. Unfortunately, the only upscale hotel in the city, a place I work at for long periods of time annually, but I won't stay there again. (I only needed it for a night until my apartment was ready, I'd rather stay at a Motel 6 and will next time. Oh, and the wifi is problematic at best. You get better service from the free city wifi, which is sketchy. In short, expected a Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental, Westin and got a Holiday Inn with arrogant staff.

Incredible Find in Innsbruck
Another fantastic stay at The Penz, our third in 2 years. Lucky enough to travel here for business. If you stay, always choose the rate with breakfast, it is unsurpassed around the world. The staff is incredible, attentive, responsive and very friendly. Planning another trip back soon. Love The Penz.

Idea location, romantic hotel
The fabulous breakfast with incredible views of mountains surrounding Innsbruck make the 5th floor restaurant an exceptional dining experience

Modern hotel with amazing breakfast buffet. Rooms are small and lack outlets at some crucial places (bedside). On the expensive side with our view being into a store of the shopping mall next door. Biggest downside they need to address is at night if someone turns on the bathroom light it lights up the entire room as there is a glass opening above the shower adjoining the rest of the room. It is a major design flaw. Had trouble staying connected to WiFi much of our stay. 5th floor bar is fun.

Would stay here again.
I enjoyed my stay at The Penz. The receptionists at the front desk were friendly and helpful. My room was clean. The bed was comfortable. However, the A/C took a day to cool and bring the humidity down. The breakfast, which I purchased with my room, was great. There was a wide variety of fruits and meats. However, I was unsure if was to wait to be seated or seat myself so so sat myself. No one asked me for my room number so I assumed it was on the honor system. The room I was in was a tad smaller than American hotels; this did not bother me at all. The hotel was modern and the area around it was nice. No fittness center I felt safe.
