What a surprise
OK, this one takes a bit of explanation. Overall good. About a week before we got an email saying the hotel was overbooked and we would be staying in a sister hotel nearby. No explanation of where it was or where to go for check in. So we arrived at the Penz and the streets around the hotel were barricaded. After a bit we were told that the EU ministers were staying there and we were led to the sister hotel. OK, fine. The new hotel was nice but did not have a rooftop bar and our room faced the main pedestrian street in town. It was noisy. We had to ask for robes and soap seemed very limited.

Terrible staff
Rude, arrogant, incompetent staff. Treated like trash by the 16 year old desk clerk when I checked in early (as if the train schedule was under my control) and didn't offer to hold my bags until a room was ready, I graciously pointed out my extensive bill at the restaurant/bar was assigned to another room to the manager I talked with extensively earlier, who didn't know whether or not a 60+ group dinner was scheduled there the next night (thank God it wasn't) or offer to comp even a single drink for my troubles. In short, was treated like hobo by the staff, who were more concerned about the local "high brow" crowd there for the club, despite being better dressed and mannered than either. The quintessential snobby high end place who's staff look down upon people as though you're a provincial hick even though they are more well traveled and have a significantly higher net worth than the rude guests and local club scene crowd. Unfortunately, the only upscale hotel in the city, a place I work at for long periods of time annually, but I won't stay there again. (I only needed it for a night until my apartment was ready, I'd rather stay at a Motel 6 and will next time. Oh, and the wifi is problematic at best. You get better service from the free city wifi, which is sketchy. In short, expected a Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental, Westin and got a Holiday Inn with arrogant staff.

Incredible Find in Innsbruck
Another fantastic stay at The Penz, our third in 2 years. Lucky enough to travel here for business. If you stay, always choose the rate with breakfast, it is unsurpassed around the world. The staff is incredible, attentive, responsive and very friendly. Planning another trip back soon. Love The Penz.
