The Sumner, London
Whoops! No room at the inn!
I had originally reserved this room in February for a conference at The Cumberland. I chose the Sumner because I liked the photos of it. When I got to the hotel they informed me that no room was available for me due to a water problem. Myself and the receptionist, who bent over backwards to be helpful, tried for the next 3 hours to find another room to no avail. Finally I had to leave to have lunch and to see a show which was pre-booked. I left my luggage and the receptionist said she would find something for me. When I got back, the owner of the hotel was there and he graciously agreed to pay the difference at the Radisson Blue Hotel in the same neighborhood. His out of pocket expense was more than I paid for the room, but as that was the only room available, he walked me to the hotel and paid the quite significant difference. Although I cannot rate the hotel in all categories, I can say that their customer service is outstanding and the receptionist should be given a bonus for the excellent service she provided.

The sumner was a great stay....The receptionist could be a little more knowledgeable about sightseeing, markets, entertainment and things to do. Knowing that be well informed about area. Also, there is an elevator but there are still steps one needs to climb to get to room.

Great stay!
Had a lovely time at this hotel. The breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect. Central to London sights and close to many good pubs and restaurants. The staff on the desk could have been a little more informed about the area, but that wasn't a big deal - google can solve so many problems! Would definitely recommend this hotel - reasonable price for what you get.
