Fantastic Stay Hiking The Cleveland Way!
Stayed overnight hiking the Cleveland Way. Hotel offers free pickup and return to Clay Bank Top (you just call from the Wainstones to confirm arrival). Sarah was waiting for me at Clay Bank! Sarah was extremely friendly and gave me a warm welcome after hiking! The hotel itself was marvelous. Check in was a breeze, ordered my packed lunch for the next day and confirmed my return time to Clay Bank for the following morning. The room itself was splendid, especially having a bath tub! Great water pressure and a heated towel rail. I ate in the restaurant that night and the food was pretty good! Breakfast in the morning was excellent and David returned me promptly to Clay Bank Top. Thank you to all the staff at Wainstones Hotel for a perfect stay, especially Sarah and David.

A friendly village stay
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, a good size and fairly basic. However there were some lovely touches like biscuits and fruit in the room. We were in the furthest room from reception and the wi-fi was good. Breakfast was cereals or fresh fruit salad, followed by pretty much anything else you wanted for breakfast-all cooked freshly to order. It was excellent. We ate at the hotel on our first night. There was a large choice, but mainly something and chips/mash/new potatoes. My husband had steak which he enjoyed and I had possibly the only meal with rice-sweet potato and squash curry-which was lovely.
