Fantastic Stay Hiking The Cleveland Way!
Stayed overnight hiking the Cleveland Way. Hotel offers free pickup and return to Clay Bank Top (you just call from the Wainstones to confirm arrival). Sarah was waiting for me at Clay Bank! Sarah was extremely friendly and gave me a warm welcome after hiking! The hotel itself was marvelous. Check in was a breeze, ordered my packed lunch for the next day and confirmed my return time to Clay Bank for the following morning. The room itself was splendid, especially having a bath tub! Great water pressure and a heated towel rail. I ate in the restaurant that night and the food was pretty good! Breakfast in the morning was excellent and David returned me promptly to Clay Bank Top. Thank you to all the staff at Wainstones Hotel for a perfect stay, especially Sarah and David.

Due to the corona virus the hotel was quiet but the staff were excellent, constantly cleaning everything. Food was brilliant and choice of beers, while not extensive was good. I had a lovely evening and would stay again without hesitation.

Love the Wainstones!
We have stayed here a few times recently at short notice. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and quiet; the staff are friendly and very helpful; the hot water pressure is awesome; the location is fab; and the food is wonderful: generous portions of good quality, Yorkshire, traditional cooking adjusted to a modern palate (i.e. veg al dente etc). Value for money is unrivalled! This is our go-to hotel in north yorkshire / Teesside, we will be back.

Yorkshire stay
Easy to find and located near where we were visiting. Very welcoming and co-operative as we had a problem with a broken back car window. Comfortable although a little too warm in the room. Hotel food excellent and lots of it. Car park needs improving, surface uneven and lacks clear marking like a lot of the national roads. Would use the hotel again. An enjoyable and relaxing overnight stay. Thank you

A gem in the national park
we were on a walking weekend on the Cleveland way had an evening meal in the bar restaurant which was really good, and at £12 for a two course meal was excellent value.there was good selection of ales and I tried my best to try them all. There was live entertainment on Friday night. overall we really enjoyed our stay and we will definitely stay again.

Poor 2.0
Awful place
Absolutely disgusting! Checked out after 2 hours, so can't really rate the actual room, apart from being tiny. We went for a meal after checking in - but found masses of slug trails under our table. I had almost finished my meal when my wife pointed out a black hair in amongst my mushrooms. At this point, we went back to our room, packed and went home! My wife has emailed the hotel a couple of times (so far) since, and they haven't even had the decency to acknowledge the emails. The hotel is like stepping back in time to the 80's - in need of a massive update. Would not recommend a stay here at all.
