It was an OK stay...the room and hotel was definitely more than adequate, but the neighborhood was just not my vibe. Very young student-ish area. If you stuck to the nicer dinner places were not a problem, and within reasonable walking distance of a lot of places, just night life was a little too clubby and young in the area.

Good location
The location is very good. All interesting places are within walking distance. It is also good for people driving to the city and there is street parking with a small parking fee. The front desk people are friendly and a street map is provided.

Glasgow great
this city has hills like in san francisco. the staff were very helpful, accommodating, and kind.they gave us recommendations for where to eat.the hotel is nice with a beautiful staircase.we were put in a huge front room with gigantic windows with a view, unfortunately, there was a pub nearby that you could hear the music half the night.we changed rooms on the second night.shared baths with some rooms, but no big deal.the bathtubs are like swimming pools, and deep.we liked it here.

Basic, clean, and quiet
I stayed over the weekend in a single with an en-suite. It was a hike up a few stairways to the room, but the room itself was quiet and clean. Small -- an actual single bed -- but the bathroom and shower worked fine. Not really a place to do much in but since you're only a block up the hill from the main pub/entertainment/shopping area of Glasgow and the Glasgow School of Art, it was just a relief that it is quiet and clean. Decent breakfast.

depends what you want
First off, this hotel is priced so economically AND located so well (between kelvingrove and downtown with easy access to either one) that it pretty much makes up for everything else. It's an ok place, sort of hostel-style with shared bathroom but there are enough bathrooms that you only share with maybe one other room, so it's convenient. In-room sink. Old building, hallways smell funny but rooms smell fine, clean and spartan, has everything you need, and a nice large window. Full breakfast available- standard stuff- and actual filter coffee not instant coffee which was a big relief to this particular weary traveler. Staff is friendly and efficient. Again, the location and price really made this worth it for me. Perfect if you want to walk everywhere and maximize your time in the city while having a comfortable, simple place to crash.
