About Rho Hotel, Amsterdam

Art Deco hotel with free breakfast close to Dam Square

Steps from Dam Square

The Rho Hotel is in a quiet side street a few steps away from bustling Dam Square and the Royal Palace, in the center of the old town. The flagship stores of Kalverstraat are a 5-minute walk, it's 7 minutes to Centraal Station, and several trams and bus routes stop at Dam Square.

15 minutes to art museums

Free hot breakfast

Reception in the Art Deco lobby - formerly a theater - is open round the clock, and pancakes, eggs, and more at the free breakfast buffet will get your day off to a great start. The bar is open until late, and there's parking available in the hotel's private garage.

Free WiFi, satellite TV

172 spacious rooms come with free WiFi to keep you connected, and satellite TV for when it's time to kick back. Suites include separate living areas and bedrooms, plus fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers - handy for longer stays.

Great location and generally friendly staff. Water pressure in the shower was very low. Early morning manager was sleeping on the couch off the lobby the day we left. The maintenance man checked us out and covered for him. Not a good image.

Convenience score 100%, but noisy and outdated!
This hotel is right in the middle of the exciting energy of the Dam! Everything is literally steps from the frobt door of the hotel, so if convenience is your prime objective, go for it! The hotel is quirky and quite charming, but on the other hand is a tad outdated and in need of a major face lift. There is no AC in the room, which is a problem if you are in Amsterdam during a rare summer heat wave. Also- try to not get a room facing the Nez (the front street of the hotel) if you want a good night’s sleep! Lots of noise from the Dam and bars just down the street, and since there’s no AC, you need the windows open at night!

Decent place at decent price. No AC
Hotel was decent enough but not very nice. I didn’t notice it had no AC and it was surprisingly hot inside my room given how not terribly hot it was outside. Bathroom was small and there was nothing very nice about the room, the bedding or the bath. It was just a decent place to stay.
