Not Bad
Nice enough place, but a bit run down. Front desk person tried to charge me for breakfast after telling me it was included. Single beds are awful. They want to roll you off of them and are super mushy. And putting two single beds together here to form a double doesn't work. They just mush you into the center crack and separate.

Two blocks from two different tram stations, The Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is a perfect location away from the noise of the city center but conveniently located for museums, concert buildings, and the arts district. A seven-minute walk takes you to the Rijksmuseum and canal tour stop-off points. Six or 8 blocks to the west is Leidsplein where you'll find a good assortment of restaurants. The Witsen is a small hotel; it's clean and comfortable. My bed was firm with pillows well-suited for me. It's good that the hotel sits on a side street, mostly residential. There is no A/C so my windows remained open. The occasional noise from the street was a bit bothersome. There are a few rooms in the rear which might be the best option. The breakfast was very nice. In addition to the usual cold-cuts, breads, fruit, and sweets, They'll make to order your choice of eggs and pancakes. Very pleasant staff. I've used this hotel in the past and suspect that I'll be back in the future. The price point is fair; there are less expensive places (expect less comfort and noise) and there are more expensive places where you won't find the charm of the town.

very comfy beds but a bit cramped for 4 beds in one room. The price was higher than expected for the hotel.

Good value away from the tourist debauchery
Good place to stay if you want to be away from the noise and general craziness of the main tourist area near central station. Easily accessible by city trams and only a short walk to many of the city's attractions. Friendly staff and overall good value. Only two minor complaints. 1. No air conditioning, but it does not get too hot in Amsterdam. 2. My wife and I anticipated a double bed and were a little disappointed that our bed was two singles.

Well located little Inn
Good hotel, I have stayed here many times. It's very well located near three major tram lines, small beds for 2 people, but good for one person. The room has no AC, so hot most of the night during our stay in September, noisy with window open. Great breakfast and helpful staff. Has a lift.
