I wouldn't stay again.
The Charleville Lodge is on a main road, but unless you're familiar with the area (more so than bus drivers), it's easy to miss your stop. It's a 25 minute bus drive out from O'Connell St. The neighborhood is way out there &isn't near tourist attractions. This is pretty inconvenient &doesn't justify the pricing here. If you're looking to check in early, don't bother with the Charleville. We arrived 30 minutes prior to check in time &were told to wait until exactly 3! The receptionist didn't attempt to see if our room was ready or still being serviced. If I'm not mistaking, I requested an early check in when I booked the room! The room where the beds were was clean &nice looking. The bathroom wasn't the best. There was built up red residue on the silicone lining the shower, door tracks, &corners. The sink drain looked scary as well. Also, if you are a larger person, I don't recommend staying here bc the showers are ridiculously tight in terms of entry! On the upside, the White Moose Cafe on the lower level is open for meal times. The food (a burger, chicken sandwich, ham hock English muffin) was outstanding for a small cafe. The pancakes aren't a winning dish though. Great prices &service in the cafe! Lastly, just a heads up, this hotel does not have a lift/elevator. You must walk either up or down stairs to get to your room and the cafe.

Not worth the price
I stayed at Charleville Lodge Hotel for the first 2 nights of my trip so I could have someplace quiet to sleep and adjust to the time difference (I'm from the west coast of the US). I arrived 30 minutes early for check-in and was instructed to wait downstairs in the attached cafe until my check in time of 2pm. The cafe was very pleasant and reasonably priced. The room and bathroom of my assigned unit were small, but I was somewhat expecting that. I was trying to save some money on a room that I only intended to sleep in, but in hindsight I would have paid a little more and stayed somewhere else. I rate this hotel 2 stars because: 1) The shower didn't drain properly, forcing me to shower in standing water and try not to flood the bathroom. 2) The television was unplugged on my arrival, but didn't work even after I plugged it in. 3) The large window wasn't very insulated, which made it difficult to sleep with the heavy road traffic and conversations happening outside.

A place to slee
Hotel was passable, needed remodeling and dank. Internet service was a premium € 3and did not work, making it impossible to check in for a Ryanair flight and costing us €45 a person to fly. The lady who checked us in was friendly and helpful and gave a great recommendation for dinner.

Ok... but there are better places to stay.
This was not a bad place to stay, but not great either. It is close to a bus stop to get downtown which is convenient. The hotel overall is badly in need of an upgrade - it's not dirty or anything, just OLD and a bit dingy in person. There was some mold on the ceiling of the (very tiny) bathroom as well. Good water pressure in the shower though which I appreciated! If you're only spending one or two days in the city and don't mind using public transportation this place will do just fine, but I think there are plenty of nicer hotels closer to the city center.
