Choose a different hotel. Lots to choose from!
When we arrived, we were assigned to room 23. I thought we would be on the 2nd floor, but we were in the basement! There was an "emergency exit only" door 8 feet from our room. It was open and it led directly outdoors. The staff member said the door was for staff and not to worry, because "this is a safe area". The fact that she had to say that was odd. I wasn't comfortable. When we entered our room, the bed wasn't completely made. They didn't have the pillow coverings on the pillows. The woman who brought us to the room pooh-poohed it, saying the pillows are only decorative. She had to return 2 or 3 times to rectify the situation. Then I wanted to close and lock the window, but I couldn't reach. I got up on the bed and found it is on rollers! The wheels didn't even lock! Every time we moved at night, the bed moved. In the morning, I went to make coffee. The hot pot wasn't emptied either. I would not recommend this hotel. Not only were we in the basement, but all the floors were tiled and the breakfast room was directly above us. We found out that the "emergency exit" door near us was where the staff went to get dishes or many other things for breakfast. There was constant traffic over our room and outside of our room. As we were inside our room preparing to leave, two hours before check-out, a maid opened the door and was surprised to see us. The wi-fi was sketchy. We had to sign in numerous times. All in all, a very poor experience.

Teensy weensy and most uncomfortable
The single bed inside took up over half the teensy-weensy room. As it butted against the walls at the head and feet, if you are an inch over 6ft you are guaranteed a night of discomfort.... not to mention the lumpy mattress that seemed to have broken springs, and the tubular shower that was so small that even as a thin person there was no way to bend down to wash my knees, much less reach my feet! I usually trust customer reviews on but this was a real disappointment. Had to go to the chiropractor for my back to recover!

Family trip to london
I enjoyed my stay, the downside was that there was no elevator and if you are traveling with family and the luggage heavy it will be pretty heavy to go up 60 stairs. Another thing was the WiFi only worked at the reception. It would not work up in the rooms.

Exceptional 10.0
Convenient hotel.
The lady at check in was friendly and was helpful with local recommendations. This hotel is close to metro, within walking distance to restaurants and Eiffel Tower is nearby as well. I would return to this hotel again.

The Melita - great location and great value
The Melita is a great hotel. It is old and the rooms are small like most other London hotels. But, the room was nice and clean. The balcony was really cool. The location is great, very safe neighborhood. Also, very close to the Victoria station and the bus stops so getting around was easy. Also, within walking distance of shopping and dining. There is a Sainsbury grocery store that has inexpensive hot food to eat for breakfast and lunch which is WAY cheaper than dining out just a 5 minute walk away. The ONLY cons were no a/c and slow Wifi. WE went the 3rd week in May and it got a little warm at times. Other than that is was great. I would definitely recommend and stay there again. WE paid for breakfast but never got up in time to eat it for it ends at 9 am. The staff, especially housekeeping was VERY pleasant.
