Great budget hotel in Rome
The area around Roma Termini railway station is probably the most convenient with quick connections to the airport other parts of Italy. There are also taxis, metro trains and busses. The Colosseum, Forum, Capital Hill and lots of other sites are within walking distance. I walked from Hotel Guilana to the Vatican and back one day, but that may be a little too much for some people. There are lots of other hotels in the area, I've stayed in at least one of them, most are small and overpriced. Hotel Giuliana is not far from the station, but in a slightly quieter area. It took me about 10 minutes to walk to it from Roma Termini. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the area. I enjoyed the reasonably priced pizzeria across the street with a very nice staff. My room was a realistic size, but not huge. It was not fancy and had some flaws. For example, a container collected condensation from the air conditioner (which worked very well), but when it filled up, it could easily have just run over and made the carpet wet. I emptied it twice in the 36 hours I was there. Other than that, everything worked and was clean, just not great. It does have a fairly sketchy elevator, but the hotel is on the first floor, so not much of a climb if you don’t trust the elevator. If you want to see Rome on a budget, Hotel Guiliana is a great choice. I didn't try the breakfast. The wifi was okay, but it is never great in Italy.

We stayed at Hotel Giuliana for 8 days. The hotel is very charming! We loved that it is an older building. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We looked forward to our breakfast every morning! They made us the best cappuccinos! We walked to all of the main attractions and it was so close to the train station when we wanted to visit other cities. The best thing about the hotel though is Mrs. Jean and the staff! They were very helpful and friendly and we left feeling like we were leaving friends. We hope we get to stay here again someday!

Decent
This is an adequate hotel for its price level. It is nothing fancy and is unremarkable, but fine if you want to save money. The staff of the hotel was extremely nice!

Excellent basic hotel
I stayed at the Hotel Giuliana while vacationing in Rome. Overall, I was very happy with the hotel. The location was convenient - it is near Santa Maria Maggiore church, and a couple of blocks from the Termini station. The walk to the colosseum or the spanish steps were each 15 - 20 minutes. There was a contintental breakfast each morning (croissant, coffee, yogurt, cereal, etc...). The room itself was small (as expected for a European hotel) but comfortable. The building is rather old and some of the facilities are a bit worn, but not to the point of being a problem. They charge an extra 10 euro per night for an air conditioner, but I think this is typical for Rome. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

great customer service
It was a very amazing stay. The hotel is fairly close to the must see sights. The family orientated hotel was great. They drew us maps so we could reach the sights we wanted to see.
