A 5 minute walk from any transportatio
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast buffet is a nice perk. Otherwise the location is very noisy. The house keeping started before 8 am making noise in the hall. The neighborhood had a lot of church bells, sirens and screaming children. The room was outdated and the bed was hard and uncomfortable.

Bad experience - please renovate the hotel
Where do I start? I will start with the good. The location and exterior are good. It is close to the train station, Colosseum, and Monti area where there are lots of restaurants. Now the bad. The hotel badly needs a renovation and update. It is very old, like every aspect of it. Wall paper is peeling. A/C unit is probably from the 80's. I can feel the springs in my bed. The room also emits some sort of smell (old coffee vs bathroom?) that I have to keep my window open to dissipate the smell. There is no sound insulation between the walls whatsoever. 3 out of the 4 nights that I stayed there, I can hear a baby crying in the middle of the night (3am). During the day, while in the room, you can hear all the actions and chatters in the hallway from fellow travelers and hotel cleaners. Wifi is very slow, like < 1 MB all the time, in my room and in the lobby. Free breakfast is a nice touch, but the sitting area is quite small. I also visited the gym which is also very outdated and located in the basement/dungeon. I think the equipment is from the 80's as well. On my last morning there before check-out, in which I tried to sleep in late, my room was entered TWICE on different occasions by the maids who thought my room was unoccupied. Anyways, I've rarely written reviews but I feel this review was necessary. If the hotel management reads it, I hope they sincerely consider making some major renovations in order to make the best of the beautiful location and architecture.

Hotel stay
The Hotel's amenities were adequate for our needs.

Viminale Hotel, Rome
Viminale is a centrally located hotel, about an 8 minute walk (10 if you are with suitcases) from the Rome train station. The staff are friendly and attentive, breakfast is more than ample, and our room was clean and comfortable. However, the hotel itself is tired and in need of a face-lift. From the dusty, fake flowers that greet you as you walk in, through the old fashioned furniture in the lounge, to the chipped paint and faded wallpaper, everything broadcasts tiredness.
