Hotel Villa San Lorenzo Maria, Rome
The room was not at all like pictured. It was very very old. It smelled like mold. The heater did not work, we were freezing the whole time we were there. The bathroom door couldn't even close. The service was great though! Breakfast was also nice!

Excellent stay in a great neighborhood
I stayed two nights at Hotel Villa San Lorenzo Maria. I was offered an early check in by the excellent staff member at the front desk. I was about 2 hours early. Everyone from the front desk to the bar/kitchen was excellent. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. There's a grocery store right next door to buy drinks/food. Convenient and I felt safe walking at night.

A Gem of a Hotel in Rome
Hotel was in a convenient location in Rome within waling and trolley range of most attractions. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful in guiding trips and making recommendations. Our first morning in Rome we woke up very late and technically missed the breakfast window, but they stayed open and willing to serve us so we would not go off without breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Roaches check in and never check out
Although the walk from the train terminal to the hotel was less than scenic the exterior of the hotel was nice and inviting. I had booked a single and was given a room in the courtyard. Here the booking fell apart. The room was dank and stuffy. When I asked the desk about the air conditioning someone came to the room to check. Seems there was an electrical panel which needed to be opened and switches turned on. The A/C made noises like a machine gun and I had to turn it off to get some sleep. Waking up next morning I found a large cockroach (size of a .50€ coin) in my bed and two more scurrying around the shower. I left the hotel to start my day in Rome and came back after lunch to rest. Waking up I found I once again had company. I killed the cockroach, packed my bag and went to the front desk with my not so little friend. Antonio, who claimed to be the manager, offered to spray the room. Great! Then I have a room with bugs and poison! I declined and he said that he would talk to Expedia about refunding my money. Of course when I called about my problem the hotel denied everything. Horrible experience.
