Very convenient to walk to sights plus two good restaurants immediately opposite the hotel entrance.

Roman holiday
I stayed here 32 years ago for a study abroad trip so I brought my whole family to see this place. It's still a quaint and quintessential Roman hotel, albeit now with air conditioning and updated bathrooms. It was a wonderful and nostalgic trip for me.

Great in all aspects
Great hotel. Great staff. Awesome value. Close to metro. Nice breakfast. Make sure to eat at the pizza Pinsere immediately next door (best italian pizza ever, and great staff) and have dinner at fuocolento (great food, service and value)

Hotel Medici - Book with caution
The hotel staff and policies are very shrewd and difficult. You have to put the key in a socket in your room to turn on the lights. The hallway lights have motion sensors- they turn off in mere seconds if no large motion is detected. This is especially difficult when unlocking the door, because the lights just turn off before you can unlock it. The keys themselves are very difficult to insert into the lock and twist, for the main door and the bathroom door! These were very, very annoying. The "free WiFi" is also utter garbage. <1 Mbps; you can't get any work done because it's not fast enough to load modern web pages. The "queen bed" is actually 2 twin beds shoved next to each other. We booked a quadruple room, and the other 2 twin beds were just metal cots with brick-like mattresses. The elevator is a joke. People don’t close the gate and it gets stuck, is very small and incapable of handling hotel traffic. Service is also bad; we asked for extra water bottles, even telling the staff we'd pay for them. They rudely told us to go across the street to buy them. At least the air-conditioning worked well. The only saving grace for this hotel is that it's in a great location, and that the breakfast is free, good, and is served from 730 to 10 am. The cleanliness is also fine, but they don't replace your sheets -nasty- they just make the bed. The sheets also had quite a few holes in them for some reason. Beware of the Rome City Tourist Tax so it doesn't come as a surprise to you!

Hotel Medici, Rome
The hotel said it offered free Wifi but the Wifi wasn't working for me or other guests, which was challenging and disrupting. I thought they might offer a discount but they didn't. The location was near the railway which was helpful. I wouldn't book this room again when I return though.
