Fantastic, clean, comfortable room. Easy walk from Termini. Nice location for S. Maria Maggiore and National Museum, Baths of Dioclesian. Restaurants in area not the best, but OK.

Horrible customer service
Checked into hotel with rude staff. They spoke English perfectly well but chose to ignore my wife and I mid conversation on several occasions. The room appeared to be nice at first but I noticed there was a sweater outside on the patio that was probably left there by another guest. I had reservations for a party of two and still received an extra bed vice sofa. Also the walls were dirty with an unknown substance. The cleaners did minimal. In fact they only wiped the visible surfaces. Saw dust here and there. They also did not leave any toilet paper even when it was low when I left. I read some great reviews on this hotel and felt that the staff might have been a bit bias in their treatment towards me and my wife. When approaching the staff about my issues they walked to the back and spoke Italian for two or so minutes before coming back to me just to say there was nothing they can do. I then concluded that this hotel was not worth staying. This was supposed to be a four star hotel. Pretty ridiculous. I’m not special. I don’t need special treatment. But I’d like for them to have some sort of standards. It’s embarrassing. The only thing I enjoyed here was the decent location and the bed.

We only stayed for one night, as we moved on touring more of Italy. My only complaint was that many things in our room didn't work/were broken. They had a plastic shelf that held our toiletries and it came unstuck from the wall, is seemed like they used a double sided adhesive and it no longer could support the weight. The shower gel had broken and emptied entirely on the floor. Not a big deal, we didn't need it and cleaned it and went about our stay. That evening we noticed our towel warmer/radiator didn't work. We asked the front desk for help with it but they couldn't offer much assistance, just seemed shocked because they thought they all worked, we asked them to send someone up just to make sure we we're using it correctly, but nobody came. The next morning I went to open the window and the entire window came out of the wall from the top, luckily I caught it it time so I didn't take on the entire weight, my husband came and helped me get it back in place. I am glad I was opening it slowly because that could have been a bad accident. We informed the staff upon checking out, they didn't seem too shocked, but that could also be because we don't speak Italian. They did say sorry and were pleasant, but they didn't seem to be in the mindset to get anything fixed. Be careful opening your window!

Universo - great hotel at great location
Hotel was in a great location - easy to get to Rome's sites and close to Termini station. Hotel itself was great - staff was helpful and friendly, hotel was clean and had good amenities.
