This hotel is in an amazing location. 5 minute walk to Piazza San Marco (and that might be overestimating it). It is a quite side street, so you don't get all the noise from people walking around. The hotel is much different from mainstream American hotels, but it was clean and nice. There are a lot of steps to get to our room, which was on the top floor and no elevator, so be aware of that. The service was fine. I would recommend based on location.

Home away from Home in Venice
We have stayed at the Hotel Castello numerous times. It is an older hotel, but so are most of the hotels in Venice. Hotel Castello is in a good location, and the hotel staff is willing to do whatever they can to make your stay great.

FANTASTIC LOCATION
It was a good stay for a very reasonable price. Location was great. I could come up with negatives but it isn't necessary.

Venice Great Location and bathtub!!!!!
We enjoyed immensely our stay in Venice and Hotel Castello was in a perfect location just a few minutes to St.Marks and Zaccharia Boat Stop. So it made getting around very easy. Our room 116 had a bathtub which if you want to relax after walking around all day was wonderful! AC worked very well and breakfast in the morning was sufficient although I would have liked a hard boiled egg option and another cereal choice like meusli. But really ok. Our only complaint was that this particluar room needs a new bed mattress. The current one is too hard and uneven. It may not be all rooms but just ours. Limited TV channels but I was too tired at night to watch.

Quaint Venician Hotel
We had just returned from a cruise and only needed one evening accommodations before returning to the states. The Hotel Castello was within a few blocks walking distance from the water taxi which was extremely convenient. The neighborhood had many restaurants and boutique shopping, just right outside their front door. The staff was very accommodating. We arrived a little early, they let us store our luggage and sit in the main dining area to check our email (complimentary) while the room was being prepared. My only real critique of this cute old authentic Venician hotel were the accommodations. The beds and furnishings are very worn and dated. Although everything was clean, the linens and beds could be switched out. The continental breakfast was simple, but the staff and service was wonderful. I would recommend this hotel for an overnight or two as it is very convenient and close to "everything".
