Good clean stay
Good hotel right on the water. Nice clean rooms. Only complaint was the staff booked us a dinner reservation. We got there and they didn't have our res, but they quickly got us a table. However the next morning they tried to charge us 50 pounds even tho we paid the night before. I had to run back up stairs and didg thru the trash for our receipt to prove we paid.

Fast, friendly, beautiful, highly recommend!
Salthill had the FASTEST check in I have ever experienced (not to mention the incredibly nice staff). We had a sea view room which was incredible but unfortunately very loud at night in the hallway. Other than that our stay was incredible. They have a button in the lobby to call a taxi which is SO convenient. Would definitely stay here again (but would probably not pay extra for the sea view room if the weather wasn’t perfect).

I found out that there are 2 wings to this hotel. One is remodeled and nice, highly rated, the other is older, not very well maintained and clearly not cleaned as well. Guess which one I was in...The room was old which is fine if they cleaned it well but the pillows were dirty and they put pillow cases on that were too small, the bathroom wasn't filthy but definitely not clean and the coffee pot had mold in it. The cable service on the tv was sketchy and didn't work for most of my stay. The staff was barely even courteous at the front desk and at the bar. If you are in the area, stay at the Galway Bay Hotel instead or make sure they put you in the nice wing...maybe they will treat you better.

Nice beach hotel.
Nice hotel on the water. A little far from the action of town.

Make sure you are not in the 'old section'
The hotel's public spaces are lovely, and the location is fantastic. The restaurant is quite nice. However, our rooms were in the 'old section' of the hotel. Our rooms were in rougher condition than I would have expected for the price. There were broken switches in one of the rooms, and some other signs defered maintenance. I assume the rooms in the newer section are nicer. I guess someone has to get the worst rooms, and apparently it was the people that prepaid their booking. But, I must say, the beds were very comfortable.
