Stay apartments over the culture festival period
We had a fantastic stay at Stay apartments, I didn’t realise when I booked the culture festival was on and it was such a lovely time to be there! Good vibes, no trouble or fear of violence/fights etc. Genuinely the most calmest country we’ve visited by far. We went to the golden circle which I highly recommend although we did the express tour it was definitely something I would recommend. The blue lagoon was a out of the world experience too! Along with the festival it’s been a holiday I’d definitely recommend. Stay apartments communicate via email & there’s a notepad in the hallway to communicate when you want, our keys weren’t meant to be ready until 3pm at 1pm they were there. Our apartment was clean, such a lovely size I had no complaints! I would recommend staying here as it’s central Reykjavík- all shops in an accessible distance, tour buses pick you up outside if booked. There’s a cafe across the road, I hate to say it though iceland is expensive although it’s worth it be prepared to spend £6 ish for a coffee £4 a cookie - no time to be savvy here plus you are on holiday! We went into the Hard Rock Cafe by the waterfront & 5 bottles of coronas & a strawberry mojito was £55 obviously the ISK amount is different & your bank offers a different exchange rate depending who you’re with If paying by card. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did defo one for the bucket list & stay apartments certainly accommodated to this! We paid £450 roughly for 3 nights which is a good price!

Perfect apartment, perfect location
We stayed in November 2017 and I could not be happier with the apartment. The bedrooms were a good size, the kitchen had all we needed and the lounge was very large. For you smokers, one of the bedrooms had a balcony. The apartment is only a 5 minute walk from the city center and has parking. The apartment was very clean, the wifi was excellent and the beds were very comfortable. About a week before we arrived we received an email telling us all we needed to know. Food is very expensive in Iceland, but the apartment is a 2 minute walk from a large Bonus supermarket. They stock everything you will need and the prices were not too bad. If this is your first visit, I would highly recommend hiring a car. For us 4 it cost about the same as airport transfers would have cost us. It gives you so much more freedom and is much more economical than paying for yours. Be warned, if you buy fuel and use the option 'fill tank', it will charge you about £135. This was shock to us as we had only put in 25L, so should have been about £38. Googled it and found out that they change the charge after a couple of days. If you were on a budget this could be quite a shock. Get your booze from the duty free! 4 pints in a pub cost us £40! Loved Iceland! It was November, so freezing, but was gorgeous. Highly recommend the secret lagoon! Cheaper than the blue lagoon and was wonderful. We went at about 6pm and loved it. Was the first time in 3 days I had felt warm lol I would give 5*, it was perfect!

Great 4 Night Break to Iceland!
Perfect stay at Einholt Stay Apartments. Keys were in an envelope in the 'lobby' upon entrance, no bother off any staff, just found our way to our basement room, was a cute little studio apartment, perfect for me & my bestfriend. Stayed here for 4 nights, beds are the comfiest I've ever had while travelling! Little corner kitched with full size fridge, a double stove top, a microwave, kettle and toaster. Cutlery and plently of plates, bowls and cups. Was just enough for what we wanted. A bigger than we expected Tv with ITV1 and 2 which was great for when we were chilling in the evenings before going out in our car to hunt for the Nothern Lights, which we saw twice! If you plan to do this, check on Iceland Met office for cloud cover, and if its clear over Pingvellir/Thingvellir National Park, head there, there is a car park with toilets!. Free parking out the front of apartments and free Wifi, although it was rather slow, could facetime on it though just a bit laggy. There was a closet where you could help yourselves to more towels and pillows etc. A supermarket called Bonus just up the road. These are the cheaper supermarkets, although no matter what Iceland is still super expensive! Overall a great stay at Einholt aparments, would recommend to anyone wanting an apartment in Reykjavik in the City Centre.

Good concept, mediocre execution
In general, I like the concept of a self-service hotel, which is much cheaper than others, that part worked well for us. Also reasonably clean. However, I had booked what appeared to be studios with a living room, a bedroom and a kitchenette, this is how it appeared on Expedia and how I had described it to the other 7 people. The confirmation also stated "studio", which means more than a single room, it is at the very least one large room with enough space to sit and do things other than sleep. This was not the case and the rooms were cramped and too expensive for that space. There was only one real studio apartment for the two people who shared a space. It appears that I was charged the same amount of money for all rooms. The layout of the hotel with rooms spread out in a strange way through extra hallways, having to go outside to access rooms, including directly from the street, upstairs with no elevator is very weird and awkward to navigate with luggage. Room locks are very old style and can only be operated with two hands, needs an update. Overall dated look and feel, needs to be updated and minor repairs made. Bathroom smelled strangely like solvents and the hot water has an overwhelming sulfur smell (from the free, hot spring water plant)

A step above a hostel, but would stay again
This place is by no means luxury! But if you are looking for functional, decent location and affordable this will fit the bill. We had a basement apartment and I had worried about it being cool - DUH! Geothermal energy took care of that! I think we actually turned off the heat most nights. Basement apt did have a bit of street noise, mostly ppl walking past. (It appears there is an art school right around the corner). My only issues were a cracked toilet seat and lack of ability to get extra pillows (I had knee surgery within the past year and propping it up at night would've been nice!) Great communication in the week before on how to access the property since there is not a manned desk. Having a kitchen was great for saving on breakfast and because headed out so early most days I am not sure anything would've been open. Note: There's a great little Bonus supermarket (think Icelandic version of Aldis) about a 3 block walk away. Kitchens come equipped with everything. Also, loved the little food exchange area. We had a bunch of unopened snacks we left there and they were gone within an hour. Glad not to lug them home and not to throw them out. I would stay again, but honestly we were only in the room 6-7 hours a day and it was to sleep and shower really. Felt safe walking and in the parking area of this mostly residential area.
