Clean B&B with full breakfast and friendly staff
The Moorings is a B&B so one does not expect a full service hotel and for just sleeping at night and a short time in the room it was suitable for our stay. The room was clean and the full size bed was OK but not totally comfortable for two adults, but we managed. The room has a sink in it but the toilet and shower was down the stairs and we were able to deal with it, but prefer an in room toilet and shower, but I did realize this when I booked the hotel. A full breakfast is served and is excellent quality with a small dining area. The staff (husband and wife) are friendly and helpful. There is a TV in the room and there is a pot to heat water with instant coffee and tea bags available for use. We would of liked to have a wash cloth but a large size towel and hand towel were provided and we would of like to have tissues but we managed.

Avoid unless you are a 'cheap Laborer'
Where to start? Chose it because of the reviews and left thinking those people must have stayed in a different hotel or looked more beautiful than I. Did not realize the room was not en-suite. Possibly my fault. There were 3 beds in the room, I needed only one. Was told that it was because oftentimes cheap laborers stay there wanting to share the room rent and if I needed more than 3 mm square space, get a costlier room. The shower room was nice and big but some quirk of plumbing had the water temperature even at its coldest was enough to make tea, or boil an egg, or kill you, depending on your preference. Funny because it was sorted once I mentioned it. May have resulted in getting the cold water in the wash basin in the room to boiling level, but what the heck! You get what you pay for , right? Breakfast on Sat, Sun finishes at 9AM! Seriously? Too much to ask to sleep a little longer on the weekend I guess. I should have noted every little quirks of this strange place. The guy who claimed to be running this joint for 20 years, single handed, he was quick to add, was everything a host could be. Not!!! Rarely I have come across someone so rude, or uninterested, (grumpy is a bit too harsh!). Amazing to meet someone from England/Britain to not have the common courtesy to look at you while they answer you. But in our days we did not have computers to look at while conversing. May be he just did not fancy me. Or was having a bad day. No, wait! It was the entire week! AVOID!

An excellent choice in Plymouth
Sam and his wife were excellent hosts. I arrived early and they were very helpful. The breakfasts were fantastic and overall it was a great stay. It isn't on top of the hustle and bustle, but it is well positioned. I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a great stay in Plymouth.

Homely and friendly
Can't wait to stay here again. Home from home they are a lovely couple and you can't ask for better hospitality anywhere else. My wife has a lot of food allergies and they took care of her which was really good off them. Has for myself you couldn't fault breakfast what ever you ask for it was all good. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and all your needs catered for. Like we said it was home from home from the moment you walk in the door. You can't ask anymore than that.
