Great value helpful staff
Great value with helpful staff. Rooms varied quite a bit in comfort/quality but it was ideal for a football weekend, especially at the price. A bit noisy with drunks coming back late. I'd definitely stay again; just don't expect the Hilton.

Great North Run Weekend
I have stopped at the guest house before. It is low budget but ideal for the Great North Run and walking into town albeit it is a long walk. The room was clean and spacious. The staff are friendly. The only down point was that the room stunk like a sewer because there was a problem with the pipe behind the toilet which was not on properly.I was initially told there had been a new toilet installed. Later when I noticed there was a gap in the waste pipe and water dripped out when it flushed I was told it was not a new toilet but was going to be replaced. So they must have known about it before hand. I had to pull the bathroom door shut and seal the bottom with a blanket. Obviously on the day before Great North run I wasn't offered any alternative than an air freshener. The following day I was offered an alternative room which I declined since I had managed to stop the smell coming in the bedroom by sealing the door up. Paid £110 for double room 2 nights B&B which is a bargain on Great North Run weekend. Just a shame they did not sort the loo out before.
