Good, centrally located hotel, friendly staff
The location in downtown Staines cannot be beat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the room had lovely views over the Thames, and balcony which must be lovely in the summer. The one issue is that the building is very old, and really could do with being upgraded. In order to get to the rooms, you have to go up and down various half staircases in order to get to the rooms - there is no elevator. This is not an issue for me, but for my elderly mother, it was a little more difficult. In addition, the room itself was very cold. The hotel provides a plug-in electric heater, in addition to the central heating, which definitely helped. The private car park is a definite bonus, particularly in central Staines.

Riverfront hotel in Staines
Stayed at the Mercure Thames Lodge for two nights. The room (2) that I had was on the ground floor with views of the river. The room also had patio doors so you could go straight out to the towpath. As has been noted in other reviews the pillows in the room were the thinnest that I have I come across On the patio outside there was this ashtray full of cigarette ends and it was not cleared whilst I was there. It was moved so they knew it was there. When I arrived I found that one of the bedside lights was not working. I reported this to reception before I went off to work. When I got back to the Hotel in the evening I found that the light had NOT been fixed. They do a good breakfast, however I found that the waiter wanted you in and out ASAP even though there was only one other table occupied. I cannot comment on the food for lunch or dinner as I ate in my favourite restaurants in town. I thought that the bar prices were expensive. Laura on reception and the bar staff were great. I will definitely be staying at the Mercure Thames Lodge when I have to stay in Staines again.

I like the room because it was near to the river and shops. The carpet and furniture were very old but I like the location.

Needs a refurb
Hotel was fine. Staff were really welcoming. Public areas need a major uplift. It looks very tired
