Surrounded by history!
This was a fantastic place to stay! The host was welcoming, the Abbey's history intriguing and the food excellent. The Abbey is perfectly located as a home base to travel in all directions. You will love it!

Stay away from the restaurants they recommend
Toilet was not attached to the floor. Did not flush properly. Shower curtain rod broken.

A nice change of pace.
An interesting old building, once an abbey, situated in the country well outside Bodmin (a good thing,no reason to be in the town, as long as you have a car). There is no restaurant but the owner, an interesting man, will recommend local pubs (with in one case excellent food) within easy driving distance. There is a cosy bar and a cooked to order breakfast. Rooms are not large but comfortable enough. If you don't mind being out in the countryside, give this place a try, meet the owner, mingle with the other guests, and have a less impersonal experience than you would in more conventional lodgings. Be careful driving, one of the dinner places involves single track roads, not for the faint-hearted.

2 night stay, were in the garden room, so not the main building, everything clean and tidy, but the shower room is very narrow, not for large people, which thankfully we are not, would prefer a thick soft mattress, nice clean tasty breakfast.
