Nice stay
Rooms are clean and well-kept. The bathroom has a bit of an unpleasant odor, but perhaps we should have expected as this is not a 5-star hotel. The manager speaks very good English and he is the nicest man we've met on our Thailand trip so far!

reasonable hotel for someone else?
It seems to be geared to long-term guests with their own vehicles, was not great as a last-minute booking so we could make an island transfer to Koh Tao. Near the airport but not the ferry ports, at least 1km from food. Reception desk called a cab for us to go to dinner (which was 400 baht or so every time we needed one, yuck), but they were closed when we got back (10pm, maybe later?). Luckily we had already scheduled our early morning pickup, because they didn't open again until 7am. Room was big and clean. Smelled a bit of sewage or something in the bathroom.

Average Hotel, little more care could be wonderful
The hotel was about 10 min walk from Bangrak Beach which is nice and secluded, however a cab ride away from Chewang Beach which is where the night life is. In our first night we found spiders and cockroaches, however the hotel quickly dealt with the issue and has no further issue. Pool was currently undergoing work when we arrived, which was frustrating. A little further notice would be have nice, or a complementary upgrade.

Good Value and close to the airport
Maya Buri is a good choice for a few nights stay over in Koh Samui if you are going to hire a bike or car and you are not bothered about being near the sea. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable, although could do with a freshen and new paint. There is an outdoor seating area, fridge with free water each day, shower gel, cap, shampoo, and soap provided. Unfortunately, only one towel provided in bathroom, so nothing for your hair, but there is a hairdryer and you can get pool towels from reception. The swimming pool is lovely and the gardens are really nice and peaceful. The restaurant and bar are very good, however, this time my family arrived at 9.30pm at night and they had closed already. Also, the day reception man has excellent English, however, the night porter did not understand anything I tried to speak to him about, this was not so good and should be changed to improve the guests stay. The breakfast included was very basic and again the wait staff had poor communication skills. Shame, because the last time I stayed there, I did not have this problem at all. It only costs 400 THB to get a cab to/from the airport, but it is only a 5 minute drive, but that's the minimum charge in Koh Samui. If you are staying here a few days, you will need transport to get anywhere else on the island.

great base for airport and island trips
I was looking for a cheaper but comfortable place to stay close to the airport and piers to Phanagn and Tao. Staff very helpful with trip booking too, so recommend asking for their help. This hotel was ideal. Not the place for someone wanting lots of proximate amenities and a beach though - have read other reviews which note that and it's true this is down a very busy narrow road with no pavement so feels a bit of a mission to reach the 711 which is .7 km away. I had a very happy and relaxing stay here though!
