Absolutely fantastic service. The price is a bargain for the charming experience. I expected it to be similar to other hotels around the age of this building and it was quite a nice surprise to find my experience was far more suiting than my expectations had set forth. I spent a total of 4 days here and I found the staff to be friendly, the hotel decor was both gothic and refined, and the overall the facade was wrapped with nice upkeep of the junior suite unit. I will absolutely be staying again, considering the value and the comfort levels. I was able to sleep soundly with no interruptions (my hotel room was in the corner and I was not interrupted at all by ambient city sound). It was nice to also find ear plugs in the bathroom caddy in case environmental noise occurred) Who this may be great for: – A quiet businessperson – A nice getaway with a significant other – A hardcore nerd who wants super fast internet (their internet speed is superior to 95% of the hotels I’ve stayed in averaging about 100mbit up/down) Not ideal: – A family with young kids (This is not due to hospitality, as it was quite nice, however the constraints of the hotel’s overall architecture may be unfitting for younger children). Covid Control: – Room was exceptionally cleaned and the housing staff was more than accommodating and checked daily if I needed any additional towels or essentials. I will likely be stay again very soon in my businesses within the capital corridor.
The hotel was unique and clean ,very dark room ,no window but a small opening called window ,loved the stripes but could be overwhelming for someone else ,loved the cartoons ,staff was wonderful ,it was an experience very different a little like going back to history
The staff is comprised of some really wonderful, helpful and very friendly individuals...all are a credit to the property!! We had a nicely appointed corner room looking out over the park....however, the noise was beyond tolerable...loud music playing nearby, then street noise...people milling around with boom boxes, some talking very loudly, and cars with excessively loud sound systems blaring...and it went on until about 4 AM...!!! Not so pleasant...!!
Decided last minute to stay in Sacramento, the hotel was clean and comfortable, check in and check out was smooth. The hotel has locked the front doors because people weren’t wearing a mask at first when entering the building but there’s a bell for you to ring and they will let you in. There is also a pad that your room key card will tap to open. The bed in the hotel was extremely comfortable and the A/C in the room worked well. If you are noise sensitive bring some noise canceling headphones or maybe stay at another hotel because we could hear all the noise and excitement outside and our room was on the 8th floor. Because it’s right across from Cesar Chavez park you have to park on the street or in the a garage across the street, there was not hotel sponsored garage that I could see. Walking around was great, I would say it’s just like staying in SF in that transient peoples and broken car windows was pretty rampant. I never felt unsafe but I did worry about my car (nothing happened and I only stayed one night).
The hotel interior and rooms are very nice. Clean room, comfortable bed and large bathroom. We and our pups were very comfortable. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating and they have snacks to purchase at the front desk. The location, however, is challenging. The park across the street was filled with addicts passed out in the grass. There is a restaurant in the park that had live music until 10pm which was very loud. Cars were blaring music and cruising up and down the street all night until around 3:30 when there were gunshots. We didn't feel safe taking our dogs outside in the neighborhood. Parking options are street or a public garage one block away. We were very happy that no one broke into our car overnight. Overall, the actual hotel experience is lovely but the location will prevent us from staying here again.
Richard was so fabulous and helpful, he was very genuine! All staff we connected with were very accommodating and friendly.
I would have given 5 stars all around. The only negatives. No onsite parking facility and the Grange restaurant is closed due to COVID. Lovely historic building in easy walking distance to Historic downtown and Capital Mall.
Overpriced for what you get
With everything being boarded up and all of the homeless in the parks. The citizen stands there like a bright star in a dismal state capital that has been ravaged by poverty and grime. It was beautiful to walk in the lobby and see that elegance is not dead in Sacramento
The parking was free at night until 8am on the street. Kinda not a clean neighborhood anymore. A lot of homeless around. Not the hotels fault but it is an issue. Clean hotel and makes a good representation for a Signature Marriot hotel.
