La Surprise 🏨
The hotel was unique and clean ,very dark room ,no window but a small opening called window ,loved the stripes but could be overwhelming for someone else ,loved the cartoons ,staff was wonderful ,it was an experience very different a little like going back to history

Comfortably uncomfortable.....
The staff is comprised of some really wonderful, helpful and very friendly individuals...all are a credit to the property!! We had a nicely appointed corner room looking out over the park....however, the noise was beyond tolerable...loud music playing nearby, then street noise...people milling around with boom boxes, some talking very loudly, and cars with excessively loud sound systems blaring...and it went on until about 4 AM...!!! Not so pleasant...!!

Exceptional 10.0
Decided last minute to stay in Sacramento, the hotel was clean and comfortable, check in and check out was smooth. The hotel has locked the front doors because people weren’t wearing a mask at first when entering the building but there’s a bell for you to ring and they will let you in. There is also a pad that your room key card will tap to open. The bed in the hotel was extremely comfortable and the A/C in the room worked well. If you are noise sensitive bring some noise canceling headphones or maybe stay at another hotel because we could hear all the noise and excitement outside and our room was on the 8th floor. Because it’s right across from Cesar Chavez park you have to park on the street or in the a garage across the street, there was not hotel sponsored garage that I could see. Walking around was great, I would say it’s just like staying in SF in that transient peoples and broken car windows was pretty rampant. I never felt unsafe but I did worry about my car (nothing happened and I only stayed one night).

The star in Sacramento
With everything being boarded up and all of the homeless in the parks. The citizen stands there like a bright star in a dismal state capital that has been ravaged by poverty and grime. It was beautiful to walk in the lobby and see that elegance is not dead in Sacramento

The parking was free at night until 8am on the street. Kinda not a clean neighborhood anymore. A lot of homeless around. Not the hotels fault but it is an issue. Clean hotel and makes a good representation for a Signature Marriot hotel.

love the hotel
Love this hotel! Only thing I would improve is it would have been nice to have a queen bed option rather than double beds! I could have booked at a time when there just weren't any queens available but I think it would have made all the difference

Nice Hotel with Good Amenities in a Bad Location
The lobby and other public spaces in this hotel are stunning. The service at the front desk was excellent; the friendly and efficient staff had us checked in very quickly. The carpet in the hallway on our floor (7th) was very stained and unappealing. I would says it needs to be replaced. The room itself was clean, plenty of towels were provided, as well as a Keurig machine and coffee supplies, which I appreciated. The best part of the room itself was the bed; soft, clean linens, and an extremely comfortable mattress. There was a lot of street noise and the walls are 'thin'; I could easily hear people in the adjacent room. The biggest problem with this hotel is the location; it is adjacent to a park that seems to be a permanent home for MANY homeless people. I'm not talking one or two, but dozens. This is not an area in which I felt comfortable walking at night and I did not feel safe parking my car (there was no valet due to COVID). It's too bad because otherwise I would stay here again.

So So
The building itself is very nice and has a classic appeal. The room itself felt very so so. It felt relatively cramped for a Suite and for the price it definitely didn't feel like you were getting your money's worth especially now that there are better options. The room was at least clean.

Very Good 8.0
Was pretty empty when we stayed. The hotel is nice and has a cool, classic vibe. I like all the little appointments such as books in the lobby, political quotes, and photos all around. Room was nice enough- nothing exceptional. The mini-fridge hiding in the armoire was a nice surprise. Our room was right across the hall from the door where housekeeping/maintenance go in/out and so we heard noise from them until late at night and starting again around 5am. The biggest concern is the area the hotel is in, and that they have no parking. During Covid, their valet is closed (which we appreciate). But the area is empty except a lot of homeless people walking around. The parking garage they recommended was completely empty, so it felt a little unsafe leaving our car there and then walking back alone. In the end, everything was fine but I think it’s something to consider. We didnt go, but the State Capitol is within walking distance.
