From Exclusive Club to Hotel Dump
The Columbia Club is that dinosaur of big American cities, the once exclusive downtown men's club. Most have just gone out of business, but the Columbia Club reinvented itself by becoming a hotel as well as maintaining some (mostly ancient) members. The public rooms are quite nice and the staff most accommodating, but the guest rooms are from a horror movie -- filthy carpet, pealing paint, tiny bathroom, room door that required Herculean strength to open and close. The only plus to the experience is that the rooms are cheap -- and it's not hard to see why.

Vintage Charm
We took the Hoosier State Train into Indianapolis and spent 2 nights at the Columbia Club. The walk around the Monument circle and the surrounding area was wonderful. Many Veterans memorials and museums within walking distance. Indiana respects its Veterans. Just nice. The breakfast and dinner was fabulous at the Columbia. Walk around the inside of the club. Floors 1,2,3,10. Treat yourself.

Not what it used to be
Rude staff they still think it's the 70's and they still think this is the place to be. This hotel is failing.
