The Standard East Village, New York
Loved the hotel and the restaurants!

Not a great place to stay
Our room wasn’t ready when we checked in, so they talked us into an upgrade. The mattress was lumpy, the view wasn’t great and the shower wasn’t good. Their restaurant was ridiculously overpriced.

I love staying at The Standard properties- always clean, service is friendly and the vibe is good- also they are usually located in a great neighborhood. This was my second time staying at this specific one in the east village, and it won’t be my last.

Very Good8.0
The Standard is the standard
The good and the bad. Way more good than bad. Start from the beginning: it took way too long to check in because counter was understaffed, although when we reached the counter Kelly (?) was great. Very pleasant and worked hard to get us the best room available. Room was a little cold, not in the underheated way, but the severe, sparse way. It was also on the small side. However, the room was impeccably clean and the bathroom had a heated floor - awesome. We went out for dinner and returned for a few drinks at the bar. Great, attentive bartenders and a great selection of music. The lobby bathrooms are like mini-suites, each with its own sink and mirror. Nice touch. We retired to a very comfortable bed, which led to the only major negative of the trip - a very hard to find and figure out noise machine that kept beeping at what seemed like 20 minute intervals the entire night, which woke us up over and over and over. That was brutal. The next morning we had breakfast downstairs, which was very good. The service could not have been better. Kelly (?) was again at the counter when we checked out. She remembered us and asked about our night, which we had discussed before we went out the night before. Give her a raise. All in all, a great experience, minus the noise machine. I would definitely recommend.

amazing staff- wonderful hotel, unbeatable location. one little snafu- I requested a high floor knowing that the lower levels can get loud and I was traveling with my toddler. upon arrival the first night we were directly above the bar- very, very loud. the desk was gracious and apologetic, and would have moved us if the hotel wasn't booked. made for a rough first night but we were moved the next day- and they even sent up cookies and milk for my daughter. everyone was kind, warm, and professional, and I love the location and vues. thank you, standard. well see you again soon.
