Unfriendly staff and terrible service :(
I picked this hotel because the reviews about the staff and surrounding area. We definitely did not feel welcome and the staff was very unfriendly. None of them smiled. We tried to eat at the Byrdhouse Beach club twice and no one waited on us. We ended up eating at a restaurant along the beach walk instead. The only really friendly service was at check in/check out and at the jacuzzi bar. Those bartenders were awesome and very friendly and the service was excellent. The food we ordered there was excellent. Breakfast was pretty busy and selection was minimal. Unfortunately we travel to Bali at least once a month and this was definitely the worst place we have ever stayed.

Mixed Reviews
Decided to stay at this resort because of the reviews. We got a bungalow which was great, resort itself is very pretty, requested late check out on last day was told it would be 600k which we were happy to pay but then they told us it would be 800k the day before check out then called up on check out time asking when we were checking out which I then told them I requested late check out to be told it was now 850k I told them I agreed to the original 600k. We are a young family, I got the feeling it’s more of a hotel for older people who just want peace and quiet and relax by the pool, got a few looks when we rocked up with a child to swim. Breakfast was pretty basic, staff weren’t as friendly or accomodating as the resort we previously had just come from

Fantastic Property and Great Service
We really enjoyed our stay at Segara Village. The property is spread over a number of villas and buildings with fantastic landscaping and a number of public spaces, couches, pagodas, etc. The service was top notch as every person we encountered was friendly and wanted to know if there was anything they could do to improve our stay. The only downside is that the beach loungers weren't very comfortable so we spent the majority of our time at the pool instead (we booked this hotel specifically for the beach front). Additionally the food served at the pool was a dissapointment - the menu definitely needs to be reworked. But these are minor compared to the beauty of the property and rooms.

Pleasant Stay
We were here for the wedding of a friend. The hotel staff went above and beyond for the wedding and made sure everything ran smoothly. The hotel grounds, rooms, and common areas were very nice. The restaurant food was good however the service was slow and food was delivered and different times due to having separate kitchens for different cuisines. The food was reasonably priced but the drinks were more expensive. The buffet breakfast was very good. The pools were clean but could get crowded by the late afternoon with people leave their belongings on the chairs to hold the place. The beach was nice but was a little dirty and the water was not clear or blue. The local area had decent shops and several restaurants.

Bali, lots to explore and enjoy
Exchange rate is better in Sanur than at the airport. Be sure you verify rate as some will give the same regardless of denomination of bills while others may not. I enjoyed three full days of visiting sights. For nature, my favorites were the Monkey Forest, rice terrace trek and salt mines. For temples, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple was picturesque and peaceful overlooking the Beratan Lake. Tenah Lot was the most dramatic. Online, you'll find agendas of how to spend your day to give you an idea of what's doable. If you're hiring a private driver, make sure you are firm about what you want to see and do after doing your research. Don't give in to suggestions about visiting huge silver jewelry or textile places because I think they are provided incentives for bringing in customers. Enjoy a cup of kopi luwak coffee. Carry a small umbrella with you for the intense sun and bursts of rain. Bali is so rich in culture and nature, well worth the time!
