Just Okay
In a Snow Storm with Nothing Else available it was better than staying in your car. Sidewalks were not shoveled and were icy and slick. Room took awhile to warm up with an old boiler for heat but once it did it was warm. You can feel the springs in the matress. Clean Rooms and the Staff was friendly.

Simple & Fantastic
Lakota Lodge ... Simple & Fantastic. A newly renovated (in progress, mostly completed) older hotel that, for a simple person, is perfect. Visited in late October so the pool was closed but it looked freshly remodeled. This is not a Five Star hotel with room service. This is a comfortable home away from home with friendly staff and owners with hearts as big as the South Dakota view. Our room, 104, had two full sized beds with a dividing door, microwave and mini fridge (both looked new), and a... seeable flat screen TV in the main room with both front and back doors. The view from the back lot was beautiful. On the property was a diner, also owned by the hotel, that looked like your typical truck stop diner but the food was GREAT home style food. The french fries were awesome. You could tell the fryer oil was recently changed. My wife had a side salad that looked fresh enough to be garden picked (may or may not have been). Looked to be the local home town diner. Everyone looked very happy and having a good time. It was my first trip to South Dakota and Lakota Lodge was second place we stayed. The first was a Days Inn in Pierre SD. When we return, we will be staying with Bob (owner) and his wife at the Lakota Lodge!

Don't book here! Move on!
I a 68 years old and this is the worst hotel I have ever booked sight unscene. The neighborhood was horrible and the hotel conditions were horrible. There were no cars there as no one was staying there. We ask to see the room and the mattress was all dilapidated an sunken in. Horrible conditions and we refused to stay there. We went to the following exit and found another location. It has lots of storm damage over years and siding off the building, hail holes in all the window air conditioners, horrible filthy carpet that we absolutely could not stay in such conditions. If the Board of Health came in to visit, there isn't a doubt in my mind, it would be closed down. Terrible Terrible Hotel. Enough that we lost our money and moved to an Econolodge at the next exit which was in a safe area but probably only a 2 star hotel but it was at least clean.
