Outstanding dining experience-- superb food, atmosphere, and service. Only issue was that the bed and pillows weren't very comfortable.

Faded luster.
This is a lovely hotel in a great setting. Very nice hotel staff. Unfortunately, we can't rate it higher as it's much vaunted (and expensive) restaurant, has slipped badly. Three of us had leg of lamb for dinner. It was as tough as shoe leather. Breakfast service was exceedingly slow. We looked forward to returning. We probably won't go back again.

The place to eat and stay in the Sooke area.
A wonderful way to say good-by to the Sooke area after visiting every year for 17 years. The Harbour House is one of the top spots in Canada.

A perfect getaway!!!
Absolutely wonderful: blissfully relaxing, spectacular water views, freshly prepared breakfasts brought to your room, outstanding dinners downstairs. And beautiful walks along the water on Whiffin Spit only a few steps away. What's not to like!

Too Expensive for Amenities & Condition
Maybe my expectations were too high from all of the reviews, but I don't consider our room worth what we paid - I've stayed in much better for a fraction of the cost. We got the Victor Newman Longhouse which was a cute coincidence since my husband is Native American. The room is large but has rustic-type furniture with a lot of wear. First thing we were hit with was the smell of camp fire (likely due to poor ventilation of the fireplace) and no matter how many doors or windows we opened we couldn't make it go away. There was a TV remote but no TV which had us searching for it for awhile, thinking maybe it was tucked away somewhere - it doesn't exist which is fine but the only electronic in the room is an old CD/radio so we used our phones to play music (would be nice to at least have an iPod connector). The balcony can use some serious renovation. Staff is EXCELLENT, breakfast was good and served to our room. The hotel itself has nice grounds, wildlife, and tons of art. If we were there longer than overnight the books would have come in handy for sure.
